Toyota Canada has launched a teaser page for the Prius c! :)

    TOYOTA CANADA: Prius c

Looks like we're down to 2 models (I gathered 3 from the Canadian press release) so I'm guessing there may not be a stripped model in Canada?? Perhaps one well-equipped (e.g. a mid-range US model) and one fully loaded.

Starts under Cdn $21,000. (My guess is $20,525)

You're probably paying for extra insulation and weather proofing. The battery probably has its own heater. What's the temperature up there? -25C ?

It has been a warm winter. Right now, however, it's back to "normal" for this time of year (-6 C). Supposed to warm up again next week to just above freezing.

The only difference -I- can discern between the US and Canadian Prius is we get the "block heater" standard (at least in Alberta - not in Vancouver BC). I don't see any extra insulation etc. Same tires too. Oh, one -other- difference is we get to pay more, but that's the case for almost every country compared to the US. Quantity discount I guess. ;)

Well we pay the dealer-installed price (and even that varies. Gotta check the number. Specifying an AB dealer vs. the general "national" block heater price, the AB dealer's price is cheaper on Build Your Toyota)

Pearl came with the block heater at the list price. It was not an added cost item. It was the list price on Toyota.ca. I guess they're squeezing every penny on the pricing now.

If current sales of the Honda Fit is any indicator, I bet that the Prius C will sell very well in North America..

My only question is -- Will Toyota delay the introduction of the Prius C to North America because it could eat into sales of the existing Prius which I assume has a higher profit margin?

Nope cause those Prius c owners will hopefully move up to the Prius or Prius v as their life dictates (or even a Camry or Lexus hybrid). The idea is to get people into vehicles with Hybrid Synergy Drive and let them experience the ownership of a hybrid vehicle.
