I'm in a situation where I have the Blu Logic kit (PT923-00097) and a t9200 CD player coming from eBay, and a Toyota Y adapter (08695-00370) for between the rear of the Multifunction/Radio to the CD player and perhaps Blu Logic.

I was wondering, is there a way for me to have both hooked up at the same time perhaps to a switch that I can switch between the two, or do I even need a switch?

Down the road, I might want to replace the factory CD (T9200) with some other headunit. I already have a 2 part factory harness cable (TWH951) that I hope to use somehow as well, if necessary.

    Gen 1 Prius,2001 base, no nav/CD.

    Thanks everyone!

Not to threadjack but is there a DIY online on how to change out the T9200 with a headunit? I did so in my Tacoma but it was with a Crutchfield kit which comes with pretty easy instructions. My 03 Prius shows up as non-upgradeable on Crutchfield so I will have to get instructions elsewhere.

I think there must be a way as I have seen other threads that talk about it but show no details.

No worries, we're all in this together!

I've used several car fit guides on the 'net and have found nothing specified for our generation of Prius, other than a navigation/screen mod kit from Coastal Electronics.

The T9200 player is used in the following:
    98-02 4RUNNER / COROLLA
    98-99 AVALON / CAMRY / TACOMA
    98-00 SIENNA
    01-03 PRIUS

And so anything harnesswise that works with the above should work in our Prius as well. All that Crutchfield recommends for the above Toyotas is P/N 120701761 at their site. I guess it plugs right into the Y adapter, but I'm not sure.

    Edit:

As it stands, one of the issues i'm having trouble wrapping my head around is how many inputs to the multifunction display/radio we're allowed. It seems that we're only allowed one input at a time at the back of the radio. If we can only have one input, some folks here have the Blu Logic bluetooth connected to the iPod interface and finally, to the car.

For me, it's about keeping the amount of wiring to the minimum. I can get a headunit with all the bells and whistles I want integrated, but there's still the work of integrating it with the car's wiring limitations. I can say for sure that I'll be including pics in my install!

Awesome info. Thanks a bunch. This should help a lot. I'm biased towards Pioneer as that's what I put in my Tacoma. It sounds awesome and has Bluetooth so I can talk on the phone in the car.

I'm not finding how to remove the trim around the CD player in the Haynes manual. Any ideas on this?

This thread might have some good info (and one of the links in the thread). I haven't pulled mine apart yet.

Even more awesome. What's the story with the Coastal people? Do they offer an upgrade of the display of some sort? My apologies for the noob questions. I just got this car last week.

The Coastal Electronics folks mod the MFD so that it can be used as a display for a DVD player, externally driven NAV , a PC/Mac (I think), and a reverse camera. Also, I believe they mod it to allow more audio inputs.

It's out of my budget as a student so I won't be buying it anytime soon, but still, a very nice kit.

    Update 3/10/2012:

Went to Toyota of Sunnyvale, picked up the Y cable I referenced above. Also received my T9200 Toyota single CD player in the mail today.

I have the TWH-951 two part factory radio harness plugs sitting on my desk as well, I'm not sure how I'm going to use them yet (if at all). The ideal goal is that the Toyota pieces I have (Blu Logic, CD player, and iPod/Aux in) work well enough together, assuming I can have all of them or most of them anyway hooked up at the same time, that I don't have to get an aftermarket headunit, and therefore never use the THW-951.

While searching for the pinout of the CD player connector on the Y-adapter, I found this tremendously helpful thread linked below. I saved the image uploads to my computer incase down the road, those are lost.

    Late edit:
Just bought a Kenwood x994 (bluetooth with streaming and remote mic, USB and AUX, CD player, selectable colors for buttons and LCD) off ebay. I already have a kenwood pigtail, and am going to see what I can hook up to - maybe a combination of the Y-adapter and or the THW-951. Why the purchase? I already had a model like this one in my BMW, and it worked great. I figure that maybe all these modules from Toyota might not work together so well...I'm trying to reduce the amount of wiring and troubleshooting I've got coming my way. If I have something can do everything in one, it'll work out alot better for me.

Good luck with the install. Let us know how it goes.
