The stupid ChargeSpeed website requires flash media drivers to open. Not very iPad friendly.

    probably an aside but
I like how the rear fenders fill out,
I know theyre probably 18" but wonder what size those wheels are and what the offset is

    Very nice indeed.

It wouldn't look out of place on the track.

You asked for it, You got it...
    Gen II aero parts! :D

Here's a site that has these aero parts, brand name "Garage Vary."
    Direct order from Japan.

The front bumper, to which I am very partial is currently on sale $785 US,
Shipping: by air, $1,270; by ship, $572 to Cali, varies by state.

    Never mind.

this looks awesome and the best part it it doesnt lower the front end so driving over snow or over speed bumps or driveways won't be a problem and you don't have to spend a fortune on side skirts and a new rear bumper.

next time my mother goes to Hong Kong I'll have her bring me back one of these cause I'm not spending a $1270 for freight.

a bad news for you, cnschult. :(
I don't see this bumper being sold in HK. I think you need to order from Japan. Of course, the shipping fee is much more cheaper if ship from Jap to HK. :p

depending on the airline she may be able to have a layover in japan, even a full day to enjoy some sites, so she still may be able to pick one up for me.

i checked that website and they have 2 "Garage Vary" front bumpers, the $785 includes the fog lamps but you can save a couple hundred bucks without the fog lamps which I think is a nicer look, especially on their demonstrator vehicle which appears to have modded projector headlights giving that car a 4-eyed look. I wonder if someone here can photoshop the oem headlamps into those pictures so i could see what my car would look like with oem headlamps.

In Hong Kong you obviously don't block the grill as you have a very mild winter, but in northern climates we block the grill to improve fuel economy but it looks ugly normally as most people just use foam pipe insulation, but it appears that this Garage Vary bumper doesn't have much of an upper opening, so there would only be the lower grille to block, yet another bonus.

I am absolutely in love with this bumper, so much that I am now going to try and hijack this thread and see who else is interested in a group buy, if we got 15 or 20 of these we may get them for $500 shipped (non fog lamp version)

I would be interested. Would prefer the fog lamp version, but would accept this one at that price.

Re: Possible Garage Vary Gen II aero parts group buy

Since this thread is all about the Garage Vary bumper, I can't see that
trying to get some of them Stateside is a hijack, just an extension.

From watching other group buy efforts over the four years that I've been
here at PC, the typical "group" usually shakes out to be 3 or 4.

I would like to see pricing for both with and without fog lights.

Even then, shipping costs will be a major factor... at least for me.

yes but let me sum up the advantages of this bumper:
    a. its beautifully different, unlike most aerokits which are wildly different, that means this bumper won't attract cops when you're going 3 over and vandals who will want to scratch ricers.
    b. it doesn't lower the front end which means you aren't forced to buy side skirts and a rear bumper which would increase purchase price, shipping, paint and installation cost. Furthermore you can still drive through snow, driveways and speed bumps w/o fear of ruining a traditional body kit.
    c. you can still buy lowering springs if you're going for that aftermarket look, and that would also improve handling.

I'm not sure why you are interested in the fog lamp version, round fog lamps are outdated styling, that's why its on the old DB9 and F355 but not the newer V8 vantage and newer ferraris. HIDs are so powerful you don't need traditional fog lamps these days, I would pocket the $140 difference and spend a few bucks on some LEDs which look modern and are the current style, my $.02

I think aesthetics are more or less quite personal issues, but there is IMO a trendline to Prius that is just better to follow, and in some ways this kit like most others departs from that a bit far.

I think cnshult makes some good points, the car doesnt have to go into rehab to make this work and it doesnt rui the original lines, but the holes in the spoiler are a unnecessary to me, and divert from its usefulness.

Now perhaps you think I attach too much weight to this, but I think the 'face' of the car is important, and I dont see Prius as some aggressive monster so I find the outside gills kind of inappropriate. But even if the car is somewhat raked, I do find it the idea of it most appealing.

bad news, a group buy would yield us less than a 10% discount on this item, I emailed their american office and it took him quite awhile to get back to me so I'm assuming he called their japan office, but it looks like this bumper is quite a ripoff on price to start with compared to other aero kit bumpers, it does have some real positives as I've pointed out in previous posts.

predictably a matter of tight margins for a 3rd party provider

no the over fenders are $403 themselves total for each of the 4 fenders, again, a total ripoff as the bumper is barely worth $403. The prius wheels already look sunk in, especially at the back, so I would skip the over fenders unless you intended to spentd a lot of money on wheel spacers.

here's the rest of the garage vary line products you inquired about:
Aero Parts / Tuning Performance Auto Parts Online Shop - Auto-Style USA - Japan Car Parts JDM Parts[]=GBY&limit_car[]=11D2&page=1&max=10&car_url=20prius

you are correct the "cleaner" bumper without fog lamps is better looking. I have removed my fog lamps and have ordered the lower R&L plain lower grilles w/o the fog lamps holes for a more streamlined and contemporary look.

just go to the autostyles website (link in OP) and play around, search NHW20 to see everything avail for gen II prius, there are also some cool spoilers that go on the top of the hatch (over the washer fluid sprayer). I've spent hours playing on that website but I always find myself coming back to the garage vary bumper . . . so beautiful.
