I ordered and received the rear bumper protector. I can easily determine how to install it (clean the bumper, use blue tape and such to mark where it goes, peel off the tape, etc...)

But, no instructions provided with the protector -- how do you clean the bumper to insure proper adhesion?

Recommendations on what to use, techniques, etc are welcome. Do you clean with car soap, follow up with wipe-down with alcohol, or what?

Is there any clue who the manufacturer is? The reason I ask, I just recently got side moldings for my Prius from Danny's PriusChat Shop. The moldings came without instructions. Fortunately, the manufacturer's name and address were on the mailing tube. I Google'd them, went to their website and found the installation instructions. FYI, the installation instructions for the moldings say you can clean the paint with alcohol before applying.

Good question -- perhaps it's the Toyota version.

    Label says:

    00016-47040
    2010 PRIUS
    BUMPER PROTECTOR
    S.E.T.

    That's it.

Edit: Found the directions - Southeast Toyota product. Good suggestion!

BE CAREFUL HERE. Carefully position the protector before removing the tape. For best flush-fit on all curved dimensions, the bumper protector s/b pulled slightly rearward.

Please don't ask me how I know this.

Pretty straight forward, just remove all dust and road grime with a damp cloth, open the hatch so you can line up the center bump on the protector with the slit where the hatch locks, peel and stick.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PROTECTOR PUSHED ALL THE WAY FORWARD SO THERE'S NO GAP WHERE THE PROTECTOR CURVES DOWN AND AROUND THE REAR OF THE BUMPER.

Prep Sol is good for cleaning the paint surface.

Pulling slightly reward is key to getting things flush and aligned. I still have a slight gap, but that's just the tape.

I -- unfortunately -- read this AFTER I misinstalled mine. Gently pry and the tape will come loose.
