I was very tempted to do that myself... but also shared the same concern about using up too much of the 12-volt pinging the car for its location. Seeing it in action now, I don't think there's anything to cause worry no matter how many times you do it.

It is rather eye-opening being able to see the feature in action. You become aware of how different the ownership experience for vehicles will be in the future... or today, for some of us!

Like having your car shut down in its tracks by Big Brother.?.
or Every movement, location, speed, miles driven etc tracked.?. A great little foundation for a mileage tax assessment, since they're not getting as much gas tax from u !

Did this really work? I have everything set up, but the last and first update of position were yesterday at 6:46PM CDT. I am not sure if it should have moved yet or not, it too is coming to Texas from California, but I would think there would have been at least 1 new ping of location since the first one?

Not to worry. They have the tin-foil hat option that prevents all that.

Yep, I posted (and so did Prius Team) some time ago not to do this because it will activate your subscription before the car is in your hands. But since you realized this and made the decision knowing this I'm glad you like the feature!

I love being able to check my battery level while charging w/o having to go out to the car and since it has gotten warmer here recently, I've used to remote A/C a few times now... Works nicely.
