Well, for those of you looking for a 15" replacement, here are the Enkei Performance EDR9 in 15" silver paint, wearing Michelin Primacy MXV4's.

The look is more finished than the stock 15" rims with no wheel covers (what we old guys called "hub caps.") :) I was worried that the 15" rims wouldn't translate from the 17" size, but it is very clean and doesn't look clunky, I think.

I have the Prius Plus rear sway bar installed, and I am waiting for the Tanabe front strut tower brace from Juiced. I also have a K&N air filter replacement.

Well, the handling is very crisp, and much more solid with a rear sway bar and grippier tires. It really does need the front strut tower brace since I can feel the steering geometry changing as I make turns at speed (lane changes and off-ramps.)

Mileage is down, probably about 5% at this point with 38/36 psi, but it is a much funner car IMHO. I am probably driving it a little more like a "normal" car and not nursing it as much. I hope this helps others looking to do a 15" replacement.

Looks good. It's fun to see someone brave a set of aftermarket 15" wheels! LOL

The mileage should be down even if you bought the same OE tires because these are new. Get a couple thousand on them then report back. :)

Get some camber bolts from the Toyota dealer and aim for -0.75 deg of camber in the front, it really helps improve stability more than the strut tower bar IMO.

Looks really sharp. There are many different 15" wheels for those that want to keep that size, I'm happy with my decision to go with 16" wheels.

Being old and all, I really wanted to keep that high sidewall for comfort. I think the 16's would have been a good compromise, but I just got the replacement 15" tires, before I got the wheels, so I was sort of locked in. Thanks.

Thanks, the camber might look out in the picture because the car is half sitting on a rolled curb, so the front is a little higher than normal. I think additional camber might exacerbate the front end squirm since the front outside tire would have more to push against. Lemme see what happens with the fstb, and then I will look at alignment. I am reluctant to add too many mods since I am always thinking about resale. Now if they would only make a hybrid Avalon...

Here is another suggested serving. I think the handling is preserved and the ride is upgraded with this combination, although the young turks might not like it as much as 17's. Overall mileage is down from about 50 to 48 mpg.

    That's steep for 15" rims.

That's with the Michelin Primacys. I think they are more responsible than the extra 2# or so per wheel.

I like em. I put 15s on mine, and they're similar in design but mine are "hyper black" color - a dark gray, IMO.

Weight should not impact mpg significantly so either it's the wheels or the Primacys suck at the mpg game despite being LRR. Didn't a couple members report worse fuel economy with the Primacys on stock 15s?

I think so. I put the Primacys on because I was familiar with how they smooth out the ride. They are definitely not an LRR tire. The grip is awesome, too. They are high performance all season and last about 60K miles.

So you have the non-LRR Primacys. Makes sense.

Yup. He is running the same tires The Critic used to run and he was plagued by bad gas mileage. He swapped to the Energy Saver A/S and observed an instant boost in MPG despite going from a mildly worn set of tires to brand new. Grip went down though.

Yeah, I was confused as I thought it had GreenX. Anyway, I can't understand why anyone would put non-LRR on. Might as well get the factory 17" for better handling if you're going to take a hit of 2 mpg.

Oops, MXV4. I have them for the better ride, which is why I wanted the higher sidewalls of the 15 inchers. Also, I find the steering response is much better.

The ride on the Energy Saver A/S is pretty good too but the steering response is not as great. You should talk to the The Critic. He had the same tires and recently swapped them out for the A/S. he got a pretty sweet deal from Michelin. If you are not happy with the mpg drop then you may want to inquire with Michelin before you put many miles on them.

That's good news. But I am not a hypermiler. I just wanted a safer, more quiet ride. I think it's a good trade off for me. And the wheels just give it a finished look. My wife hasn't noticed yet, though.

Well they are fantastic tires in general so other than the mpg drop it's not like they are a bad choice. :)

And the Tanabe fstb is in the mail. So once I get that on I think I will be good. Now about that stereo...
