I was wondering the same thing, though, so far, it appears my display gps unit may be the better of the two.

Why do you think this? I've had similar thoughts but am interested in others thoughts. W

I was worried at first with the display nav having come from a 2010 IV with the 7" nav. Yes the graphics are not nearly as nice but the UI has pleasantly surprised me (though I haven't figured out a few things yet) and it responds much more quickly than the old DVD nav. Haven't seen the HDD in action but I went from being sad about the apparent downgrade on the way home from the dealer to quite satisfied within a day or two. That said, any usefulness of entune has so far eluded me except for playing with it when parked in the driveway.

It appears we have more voice commands and better voice control. We have 3D; I've read reports indicating the "upgraded" doesn't. Plus, the upgraded unit doesn't even seem to provide improved sound. So far, it appears we have the better deal.

I'm actually impressed with the base unit. It's not quite as intuitive to work as a Garmin, but which built in unit from any manufacturer is? You do learn how to use it after a while and it does become second nature. It has all the abiliities I ask, including multiple destinations and automatic dialing of phone numbers. The only thing I sorely miss is a breadcrumb trail. I'm even more than satisfied by the graphics.

I agree, Entune just seems to be a big bruhaha about nothing much. I wish Toyota had spent more energy on finessing things like the audio, GPS graphics ( tolerable) more customizable options for vehicle control, interface etc. Really whatever 'smartdevice' out there trying to give an internet user experience has to compete with the Iphone or Android which are both pretty slick interfaces ( i defer on the gold and silver positions for now ;) ) They could have leveraged the Entune app on the Iphone/ Android to 'send' stuff to the car which could potentially allow a lot more functionality. Right now it seems like a dismal 'me too' as opposed to a contendor.
