I just found out my little USB MP3 player could be read by the new c2,
but the stick is so long, it sticks out way too much..

So I want to buy a shorty USB stick to keep some tunes in the car.
I'm looking at the 8mb SanDisk Cruzer® Fit™ USB Flash Drive.
It's about $9 on Ebay. Anyone here ever try this drive?

    Thanks,

I ordered a 32gb sandisk cruzer fit on ebay for $28. I have not tried it yet but I think any USB drive works so you should be ok. I figure I can just leave it in the car its so small that it wont be noticeable for theft.

Any USB drive will work. Doesn't have to have a music player built in. I was happy to find that out when I plugged in my PNY drive with a few MP3s on it, that the system recognized it and began to play the first song without any prompting.

Went to my computer and converted about 2 dozen CDs to MP3, loaded them on the drive, and it makes a great music library. I built a few play lists, with different types of music, and also made one with all songs on it. This "all songs" list is needed due to several key voice commands they left out on the Prius C, that were in previous Prius cars.

Most drives are pretty much the same length, so I think they will all overhang that shelf by at least a little bit. But check out Amazon and Newegg. I remember seeing some that looked a little shorter in the photos.

I have a Corsair flash voyager mini 32GB from newegg. Only paid $17 after the rebate, and yes I did actually receive the rebate. It works great and fits on a keychain. It's less than a third of the size of the smart key and a little thinner than it.

Nice! Perfect fit for the car. No overhang with that one.

I did the same thing with a Patriot 32GB Axle drive, and works great. My only gripe is the radio always switches over to the USB and start playing after I start my car even if the last thing I listened to was FM or Satellite. It would be great if there was a way to disable that or to select a default audio source.

I'm using one of those USB drives - only sticks out of the USB socket about 3/16". It's a 16gb drive - 500 songs and only about 25% full. I recommend it!

It's almost too small. Removing it from my PC wasn't easy. Had a hard time getting a grip on it.
I think 8 mb was over-kill for us, since we only own about 15 CDs.
I used the Rip function in Windows 7 to load a dozen CDs
less than 900 mb into the
    Cruzer® Fit.
I put each CD in it's own folder, to make it easier to find the songs that I like.
Works fine and the Random mode is cool. I can just skip to the next song using a steering wheel button..
For a standard radio, this is pretty modern compared to the standard 2009 radio in my Escape.

It's so small, I can almost close the little cover over the usb nub-stick.. :D

I'm using one. Removing the software from the drive is a bugger. Whether or not you leave the software installed you'll need to reformat the drive.

There is a program called gparted which is great for managing USB Drives. It can wipe all the crap that comes with them off and format them to FAT32 in one go. Its the first thing I do when I get a new USB drive. No need for all the crap companies ship them with now. It causes nothing but problems.

I just bought a SanDisk Cruzer® Fit, and boy is it tiny. The whole thing is just the size of the socket of a normal thumb drive. Not sure where they hid the 16 GB. It's all socket with a little plastic piece on the end so you can grip it. You can't see it at all after plugging in to the USB port on the C.

And it worked out of the box on my XP system. No formatting needed. And as for the extra software that comes on the drive, none of it was installed. I just ignored it. Put all my MP3s inside a folder called MUSIC, and it played like a charm. Took a little longer to sync than my old PNY drive. But it's bigger so that's to be expected.

I've got a PNY 8 GB Micro Sleek drive that does not work. Works fine in laptop, but not in the C. I reformatted twice (FAT32). It may see one song and try to play it...I hear a few notes, then nothing. Can not see folders or anything. I have 2 other thumb drives that work fine...just not this one.

Did you do a quick format? Are all your files mp3? Not every audio format is supported in the car.
