Anyone in the San Francisco bay area know of a 3M authorized Tint shop that will tint the entire windshield?

Are there any problems with tinting the front, legality aside?

    Thanks ahead!

Not Legal in california. but still people will do it. here is a tip if you really want it.

Do the whole windsheild, and then do a very dark strip on the top 4 inches(called a sun stripe or something), do 20 on for the top and at least 60 or 70 for the whole windsheild

I did this and never got noticed. But not saying you wont get in trouble.

i'm planning on doing Air Blue 80 on my front windshield and having it done down South on my way to Torrance next week.. (and then the rest of the windows in Pinnacle)

legally, you are not supposed to tint the front windows, much less the windshield itself... but if you're not stupid with it (super dark... etc).. most cops tend to just brush it off unless you do something more stupid that will warrant them pulling you over in the first place.. at which then they'll screw you over even more.

from personal experience, anything that is 30% or lighter up front should be somewhat safe on the front windows.. and for the front windshield.. 70% or higher.. like i said.. most cops don't care as long as they can see you.. but they still have every authority to ticket you for it.... and you can always get that one cop that just is a complete bastard and write you up for every puny little thing.

it's the risk you're taking by doing something like this.

as far as finding a 3M shop, have you tried looking on the 3M website?? they have a list of dealers/installers.

Nice ride. I really wanted a super white C4 but was too impatient, and I'm gonna pay for it when the heat comes around.

FYI, I have CR70 all around( minus the windshield), and it set me back $500. Hopefully you can get it for around $400.

I think CR90 on the front windshield would go unnoticed, provide much need anti-heat protection, and not impede night driving.

Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

my appointment is this Friday at noon. I am hoping that it will make a considerable difference in how much I use my AC.. well.. how much less I'll be using it. :)

I'll take photos once it's done.

I like to know where you can get CR70 all around for 5 bills; local shop in Fremont is quoting me 8+ bills because "Crystalline film is expensive."

    Where is it?

I just paid $139 for all windows: 5% limo in rear, back and 15% at driver and passenger. They asked for $70 to do the 70% front windshield but I'm not sure it's legal or not so I didn't do it. I'm living in Orange County, SoCal.

This site has a summary of tint laws by state. California allows windshield tint only on the upper four inches.

If you can read tiny text that's light gray on dark gray, this site has a one-page summary for all states.

    It is in Puerto Rico.
BTW the front one is full window, not that someone did in my 06 Lancer that cut in the top center black area that looks empty and ugly.

Quality Auto Glass & Tinting in Santa Clara quoted me $225 to do the front windshield with 3M Crystalline 90, but no warranty.

believe me they are, 3m same tints on all my cars, always perfect for years lifetime warranty, tinted windows here in PR is cheaper, those prices are ridiculous, here the most $100 and they go to your house, i think we have a tint shop on almost every corner lol

    HEH..

For those of you who tinted your windscreen, what happens when you have registration, inspection or other stickers on your window? They cant tint over them....

My inaugural post in priuschat...Just made a deal to have sides and rear windows tinted with 3M CR 70 for $500 cash. I have always used 30 to 40% in my cars but am tired of fearing the "tint" fix it ticket so CR70 should fix that.

I could tint the rear and rear windows a darker tint (40) and have CR70 on the front windows but fear that the uneven shades will not look good. My PiP is silver.

I have my appointment tomorrow in Glendale. Should I consider the front windshield? It's a large window and I was thinking of getting CR70 or 90 if I go this route. If you have pics of yours, please post. Thank you!
