I wonder if they put a clutch between the motor and the engine.

Or perhaps they put the motor on the transmission side of the engine with a clutch between them.

I'll wait-and-see, see how Honda reacts if and when there are problems. For me that overrides any technology. Their track record with the Honda Civic Hybrid is less than stellar.

I have lost all trust in Honda. Not buying into the hype until I see actual numbers of the car.

I noticed the article said the revised Fit would go on sale in N. America in 2014 - my first thought is that that's far away to recapture lost hybrid market share. However, I know tons of people are fanatics about their Fits, so if they can bring a hybrid one here, *perhaps* it can compete with the Prius C in time.

I honestly hope Honda has created or advanced their technology. But I'm suspicious of statements of advancement that are simultaneously short on tangible details.

But I await the unveiling with great optimistic caution.

I'm one of those fanatics that loves his Honda Fit. I'd love it if Honda could make one that's efficiency approached Hybrid levels.

I am glad they are making changes to their hybrid technology. I was a big honda fan for years. However in last decade they have really dropped the ball on quality and innovation.

Honda improvements might push toyota to take the prius to the next level. Toyota will have to make improvements to its hybrid models if other manufactures step up their game.

I am particularly impressed by Ford Cmax. 180hp from a hybrid system and it gets 47mpg. I am looking forward to what the 4th gen prius will look like. Will they make a hybrid that gets 60mpg or will it be a fun car. I would also love a diesel hybrid suv with over 50mpg

Yes, but not for me. Since Honda decided to not make it available in North America.

And also, I do think Integrated Motor Assist needs improvement.

Honda would have been better served just bringing over the Fit hybrid instead of the new Insight.

well probably the reason they didnt bring it was japanese production... when fit starts being produced in NA, they might bring it here... should be next year.

Clutch and a lithium battery? (Just like Hyundai).

Whatever improvements they can bring would be good.

Being made in Mexico will certainly make it cheaper and should bring back market share and if they assembled the hybrid there they'd be able to drop the Insight (it's not even selling well in Japan) and sell a Fit Hybrid with a reasonable price differential over the Prius c.

No no no no no. They're going to put free car wash coupons in the glove box - and when their traction packs fail prematurely - they'll call it square. That'll wipe the frown right of their face - gettin' those free car wash coupons. Now that's a game changer.

not so sure they can do that though... at least not more than $500.
