Found a one owner 2008 Prius Touring model package 6 with 88k miles. Asking price is $11k. I plan to view the car tonight and run a Carfax report. If everything checks out does this seem like a good deal?

The owner is willing to take $10.5k and according to KBB that is a very good price.

I went and inspected the car tonight. Interior was like new and still smelled new! The exterior had one slight door ding on the passenger rear door but otherwise was spotless. Tires have plenty of tread and all service history is available from the local dealer. The current owner is retired FBI agent that bought the car as a commuter when he was getting paid mileage as a private investigator. He's now retired from that as well and no longer needs the vehicle.

I currently commute in a 2000 Toyota Echo with 237,000 miles so the Prius would be a big step up. I'm going to do a little more research and sleep on it tonight before making a final decision.

Well i'm sure this is one decision you will not regret. The Prius will make it to 200K easily the taxis in New York City have made it farther. The SKS is one of the best features in my opinion. I hope you can make a decision you are comfortable with. :)

The wife says to buy it but I'm still mulling it over. I plan to pay cash so any time I'm going to spend a good chunk of change my OCD kicks in and I have to go into full on obsession mode lol.

This seems like a great deal. I wouldn't let it get away. I paid $18.5k for my 2008 package 5 in December 2010 with just under 30k miles on it.

I was able to pull the service history this morning and found a couple of recall items were completed. Anything else I should be concerned with at this point, given the recall work was already completed?

That sounds like a great deal Just to share I just bought a 08 Non Touring Package 6 for 13.5 k out the door with all taxes and fees with the Cert Used Warranty from Toyota . They wanted 14.9 but misrepresented the car a a touring model. Make sure you know what to look for I am a Prius novice but I can not tell you how much this site helped me.In fact I looked at several cars advertised as a touring and were not upon inspection but after I drove this one with 30K it was showroom condition and with the Warranty I was sold

Thanks for all the advice. This car is definitely a touring model as confirmed by the VIN. I'm giving $10.5k for the car and probably another $400 or so in tax, title and registration. I should be picking the car up today or tomorrow depending on my schedule. The wife is really supportive of the purchase as she knows my current Echo lacks in comfort for my commute.

We plan to use the Prius for my commuting and running the family around town. My toy is a Jeep Wrangler which is garaged 99% of the time and my wife drives a Honda Pilot. We typically take the Pilot on longer trips but that may change once we start getting 45 MPG from the Prius!

Was I given the wrong info from toyota? They said that my model is a 1224 Non Touring Not a 1226 (Touring) That info is only provided on the window sticker when new. They do see the codes in the Vin that show its a package 6.. Is that the reason so may dealers advertize a touring model was it is not? Can anyone share some info on this if they know it to be true Thanks I drove a friend of mines who has a touring model and found the ride to not as good but I guess its just personal preference.

I have to wait on the title. The original owner only had the certificate of origin from Toyota, the state of Oklahoma never mailed them the title and the owner didn't know any better (older gentlemen). Title should be here by Monday but unfortunately I'm traveling for business next week for 3 days. Will probably have my wife go pick it up once the title shows up. The waiting sucks!
