Worst Idea Ever: Toyota To Produce Prius For GM?

Submitted by Danny on June 30, 2009 - 1:23pm.

Seriously, Toyota.  I was making a JOKE when I wrote on April Fools' Day that Toyota is going to co-produce the Volt with GM.  This time, though, it's not the Volt at the center of the conversation, it's the Prius.  And this time, it's not a joke.

These Are the Guts of Your Key Fob

Submitted by Danny on June 30, 2009 - 10:58am.

It looks so innocent on the outside, but inside your new 2010 SKS key fob is, well, fairly innocent.  PriusChat member brad_rules_man started a thread on the PC forums to compare the 2010 key fob with the 2nd gen Prius key fob.  We have a photo of the 2010 key fob torn apart - does anyone out there have a photo of the 2nd gen key fob to compare?

Toyota Prius "Harmony" Commercial Most-Liked New Ad

Submitted by Danny on June 22, 2009 - 5:07pm.

Toyota's "Harmony" Prius ad topped the Nielsen's Top 10 Most-Liked New Ads list in May, and the "MPG" commercial came in at #3.  We all have our opinions on these commercials, but no matter what those feelings are, Toyota seems to be receiving a positive response from them.

Here they are in case you want to watch them. If only Toyota would post all of them in HD...

Video: NY Times' Prius Diary Compares Old Prius vs New Prius

Submitted by Danny on June 22, 2009 - 8:40am.

Micheline Maynard has been keeping a pretty interesting "Prius Diary" over on the New York Times' Green Inc website.  The other day she posted a "video" (really more of a slideshow with audio) sharing her comparisons of the 2009 Prius to the 2010 Prius.  Nothing we all haven't heard or seen before, but worth the 2 1/2 minutes to watch it anyway.

Mississippi May Be Out For New Prius Factory; Miss. Newspaper Says "Uh uh!"

Submitted by Danny on June 11, 2009 - 10:14am.

Motortrend, via Automotive News, reported yesterday that Toyota is mulling moving future US production of the Prius from the currently built, but empty, Tupelo, Mississippi plant.  Here is MT's take:

GM Kills Saturn Two-Mode Vue Hybrid and Chevy Malibu Hybrid

Submitted by Danny on June 11, 2009 - 10:02am.

Thanks to PriusChat forum members cwerdna and JSH, we now know that GM has elected to kill off the Saturn two-mode hybrid Vue that was slated for production last November (but delayed).  GM has also decided to rid its lineup of the Chevy Malibu Hybrid, a model that increased fuel efficiency by a pretty pathetic 1 MPG highway.

Isn't it about time for GM to kill off all of their silly "half" hybrids and focus their wasting of government money on the Volt?
