I just bought a 2010 Prius that i plan to use as a work vehicle

I'm looking for any threads that could help me to come up with diy ideas that may work for my particular situation

I like your carpet idea but also need a way to protect the back of the seats and the side walls in the cargo area .

I'm a fire extinguisher guy driving around all day going from business to business checking there fire extgs.
once I have everything protected my plan is to build a box back there with a lid that will hold maybe 15 or so fire extgs all covered with maybe your in-door out-door carpet idea

So looking for any treads related DIY protection or links to accessories that might work for me

Like this carpet material. I've been using a recycled material rubber mat to protect the back of the seats when down, but it's a pain to move in and out when needed and then not. I have the Toyota 2 piece rubber mat for the load area. Will have to go look at this product.

    Nice job.

Great information. I've had my 2014 Prius for 2 weeks now and hadn't yet come up with an (inexpensive) idea for covering the cargo area. This will do it. Thanks.

I like it so much, I used some of the leftover rug to make a 2nd row mat. This will protect the center hump quite nicely as well as the area below the rear of the seats. I even had enough to make a 2nd row mat for my wife's Jeep!

You know, you could attach the material to the top of the seat back using velcro. That way the seat back would be protected when they are up.

Welp, the easiest way is probably to take your standard cargo mat and trace its outline onto the rug.

Bought the Home Depot version of the rug, but cut it "long" so that it covers the entire area in back when we fold the seats down for sleeping in the back whilst camping. It is long enough to cover the wood platform we insert in the gap between the leading edge of the rear seat and the back of the front seats.
When rear seat is in upright position (but with headrests removed ), the extra length of carpet drapes nicely over the rear seat back. Easier to change rear seat positions than with the stiff floor mat foam I originally used. So thanks to OP for this idea!

1 make it a bit longer in the back and it can also fold out to protect the bumper
    2 measure width
    3 measure length
4 car too hot in the sun, pull it out of the cargo area and place it on the windscreen
    5 fit the pattern

fold the part of the rug that covers the back seats back over the cargo curtain bar and it almost works as a rear window cover too.
just a bit of Velcro or suction cups on the hatch and it just might be the easiest rear window shade there is.

I didn't realize I have bisque or toupe above the carpet in the cargo area until I looked at my pics again a few times.
I got another eco rug in the other color , but it's dark out so I can't see how close the color matches yet.
I'll post pics tomorrow with better bumper coverage and in eco rug bisque.

Edit: It's not bisque, it's just a lighter gray in the cargo area. And I made minimal cuts to the new bisque colored eco rug. So it's like a floppy eared dog back there now and covers almost everything.
I just don't have the heart to cut the rug down any smaller at least for the winter months.
