We got our III in April in the Sandy Beach color. Because my wife wanted that color  .

There seemed to be a few around at that time. We live in PA but ended up getting it at a dealer in NJ.

Sandy Beach is not even available in Europe - it's a colour that no matter how sharp the car would look into, it would never sell.
In Europe I have only seen so far, whites, greys, 1 blue and....that's all.
No blacks and no reds yet...

barcelona red (which i have) is somewhat rare but sandy beach is even more rare. even here in the car capitol of the world southern california.
sandy beach would probably look great with the 17 inch wheels imo.

    I really like Sandy Beach.

Say, wasn't she related to Jim Nasium?

    Tommy Gunn?
    Bill Fold?
    Mason Jar?
    (help! I can't stop!)
    Bill Board?
    Lynn O'leum?

Isn't "camouflage" a better word to describe this new art of dirt blending?

I think you should get the color you like...

Resale Value? Once I get my Prius I'm going to drive it until it falls apart! (No reSelling involved in it's lifetime) :)

I like Sandy Beach, and would have gotten that one for my new 2010, except that my other one, a 2007, is in Driftwood Pearl (the '07 version of Sandy Beach) and I thought it would look too strange to have two of the same color in different generation vehicles next to each other in the driveway. I got silver instead figuring silver and gold look good next to each other.

There were several SB's available though, more so than any other color, in fact. Light colors are more popular in the south because of the hot weather.

I second the OP's emotion :). When I grabbed my Prius Three off the CarMax lot, I'd initially been a little disappointed at the color; I've always liked dark blue -- but after seeing it in the sun, my doubt washed away in a surprisingly attractive slightly-pink-hued gleam. I also appreciate its grime-hiding qualities, now that I've had the car for a couple of years.

My old camry was in a sandy/tan color. When parked next to my prius, it looked so much cleaner even though it hadn't been through a car wash in years and my prius was 2 days out from a dealership wash. *shakes fist at pollen*

I remember falling in love with an "Opalescent Golden Sand" paint job when I was a teenager pumping gas, just after metallic paints had started to become "in vogue" (mid-sixties, UK) Ahhh! fond memories!

What's the interior upholstery/trim color with Sandy Beach, is it pretty light, some sort of cream? Our last car had a very light cream interior color, I kind of regretted it, the floor carpet quickly looked grubby, arm rests too, and the plastic trim really shows scuffs.

Depends on your lifestyle, if there's not grandkids and dogs, not so bad... ;)

When I was a kid my parents got a '58 Beetle, in gold: looked good.

It's my wife's favorite - as you can see by her hybrid Lexus - which has a similar gold-esq color:

We'd ordered the very first sandybeach Gen III advanced - winter of '09 and had it delivered to the Kalispell MT dealership - but we'd previously committed to buy a PiP whenever they finally came out ... so we let it go. They sold it to another the day it arrived. Some like the colar a LOT ... most don't. Of those super early oders (maybe a dozen or so) only one was sandy beach.

I have the sandy beach metallic on my 2010. I like the color. My previous car was beige, and I guess I wanted to stay in that color. Next time, I will probably get a red car; the barcelona metallic really stands out.

My wife's VERY least favorite color is taupe .... virtually the same color as sandy beach, only it's a non -metalic color:

Irony of ironies ... her best friend's whole house interior (walls - throw pillows upholstered furniture etc) is this color. You'd think you couldn't hate and love a color that's so similar.
