I have 2 key fobs for 0ur 2007 Prius and they both are not in great condition. One is not to bad but it is missing one of the small button covers. The other one is much worse looking. They do both still function for now.

I am looking around for replacement key fobs. Non smart key. They seem to be very high priced now. Is there a source for low priced ones? I have looked on eBay but did not find much.

    Thanks,
    Glenn

You can get NEW properly working fobs from Toyota dealerships online for about $100 each and you can program them yourself.

Does your car have the SKS smart key function?

It is not a SKS smart key. Any part numbers to look for?

if you are going to a dealer, you don't need part numbers. if you think $100. is reasonable, how much are you seeing them for on ebay?

If you don't need SKS functions, you should just go to home depot or walmart and get a Toyota Key. That will run you 3 bucks and you just open your door with it, like an old school car. You continue using your old fob to start your car in the slot.

I don't have the part number for the non SKS key, you can call any toyota dealer and provide them your vin# and they'll give you the part number for your key.

Order the key fob from Toyota. If you need help talk to Jake in the parts internet sales. Get NEW fobs and have them shipped to you.

Once you get the new fobs, do the chicken dance.

IIRC, the first part of the chicken dance is all you will need to do to program the new fobs. IIRC, there are two different chicken dances, one for the SKS Prius and one for the non SKS Prius. Having a difficult time finding that link right now.

More than one place online to buy these things online. The key fob is called a "transmitter" as far as Toyota is concerned. Much cheaper if you do the work yourself. Don't waste your time with used fobs from Ebay. Most of the time folks have trouble making them work right.

    Best of luck to you,
    Ron (dorunron)

The Toyota logo on the back is black (not silver)
