Has anyone experienced a problem with their GPS, where the signal is delayed? For example, my screen is 'jumpy,' and I end up missing turns because there is a delay in the signal. When I took the car in for my 5K check-up, they told I had to wait for the firmware upgrade due out in the May timeframe. I told them that was unacceptable since it does not appear to be problem across the board. They are now having a National Toyota Sales Rep call me next week to further troubleshoot.

I have never had it happen, but I don't often drive in an area with tall buildings and/or lots of overpasses. I mention those things as they do cause signal drop outs, and most traffic guidance systems use a sort of dead reckoning to cover the period with loss of signal. Perhaps if you have extended periods of signal block that could trigger the delay?

I have a 2014 Prius v 5. I have had a couple of times that the system lost GPS and proceeded on dead reckoning. Yes, in this mode it gets stuck and confused and stops to figure out its next steps. It sounds to me like you are having the same thing.

In my worst time with this, I found out that satellites were offline or in calibration. I believe your problem is an issue with not getting satellite connections and that there is nothing that can be done to update or fix the unit in the car.

    Thanks,
    Dan

I have a 2012 v five with ATP and notice the same problem especially when the screen is in "split" mode. I took it in again today after they replaced the head unit about 6 weeks ago and it did not fix the problem. They are keeping it at least over night to run additional tests (They opened a tech case).

A while back my Garmin went flaky. The altitude was way off as was the tracking (or it wasn't tracking--I don't remember). The unit in the dash was fine. The Garmin corrected itself and has been fine since.

I'll buy problems with the satellites or reception for a single incident or if every unit in the area has the problem. If not, the problem is in the car.

My biggest delay problem with my v (non-ATP) is the slowness to respond when I need to make a series of quick turns. My $129 TomTom could keep up with me via voice guidance when say I turned left into a street and had 50-100 yards to the next turn. For the second turn I will get no voice guidance until I'm passed the turn and the unit says "recalculating route guidance". Nothing to do with missing signals, just slow.

Initial rout calculation is also slow.

    Map updates are also slow.

I wish the darn things were modular like in the good old days when it was mandated that they be a universal size and connection configuration precisely to prevent the auto makers from creating proprietary form factors and thus de-facto lockout of third party competition. I'd swap it in a heartbeat.

Just got back my v. The Map version was updated and they replaced the hard drive. On the way home I noticed it started to freeze again. :(
I have the GPS set at 700Ft, Split screen with fuel consumption (ATP). Will take it in again this weekend after running for a few days just to see if it is a temporary glitch.

There is an option in the options menu to check the number of satellites found on the UK NAV, does the US version not have this ?

On the Nav screen touch "Options", scroll down and select "Location and GPS Information". This shows how many satellites are found

The case has been escalated with Toyota. The first FTS confirmed the GPS delay issue. I have a follow up next week.

It is a confirmed problem. No ETA yet on the fix. It seems to be easily reproducible with the ATP NAV, split screen with trip information.
