Just to let know to you guys from PC community, I bought a Zero S 2013 11.4 kW.

I wanted an electric car but the price was too high here in Quebec. Also, I have a garage with 110V 15A only and only have space for 1 car. A bike fits perfectly, in fact I had my Suzuki DRZ 400S since 2005 that I sold for the Zero.

I'm keeping the bike as long as I can until electric cars with Tesla range become affordable. I work from home and only use my car for long distance travel. For now the bike is a hobby and a fun one!! I have a lot more fun than my DRZ, except I can't go off road.

    Nice bike!
Like you are for the Tesla...I'm waiting for the price to come down a little bit more on the e-bikes.
To be honest, I'm still a bit of a tough sell on not having an exhaust note on a bike.
My Vulcan is bone stock and I get the whole whisper glide thing......but I ride in America.
Our drivers are criminal ignorant and negligent...at BEST.

I'm trying to break back into bicycling and the thought of going from 620 noisy pounds to 30 quiet pounds on OUR roads with OUR drivers is a little challenging for me at the moment.

    BEST OF LUCK!!!!
    Post range and riding results.
I'm interested to gain a real-world perspective on the whole E-bike thing!

    Stay Safe! :)

    Thank you!

Did you have the chance to try an e-bike yet?

When I read the headline, I thought you had bought a vintage WW II Japanese war plane.

You'll probably get more use out of the bike.

I'll be curious. Let us know how usage and life with an electric motorcycle actually is, from your perspective.

The manufacturer claims 2500 charge cycles with the battery. That's well over 200,000 miles which is pretty insane for a M/C.

Even if they're being wildly optimistic, and even in the frozen North, I'm thinking that battery longevity might not be an issue for this vehicle.

Certainly, since I use it occasionally. I only did 20000 km with my DRZ

One of the only 2 air worthy zero's in the world is just about a half hour away from us ... Chino California:

You can't be any taller than 5'-5" to squeeze into it. At 6'-5" I'd have to cut my legs off at the knees
    :)

As for the 2 wheeler - IIRC it's got an L2 charge port which is pretty slick.

It was a demo, originally at 16000 CAD$, I was able to get it for 13000 $.

Range depends a lot on speed. In town they say you can go for 220 km, which is rarely achievable in one day, so I can't confirm this.

On the road at 88 km/h they say 137 km. I did a 90 km run last Sunday at a maximum speed of 85 km/h in a hilly region and returned with 36% left. There was 20% in town on this run. I have to check tire pressure next time. The temperature can also have an impact, it was 10 deg. C.

    1940 A6M "Zero"
    Max Range: (ferry) 1,930 miles.
Max Speed: Approx 330 mph at sea level.
Price: ??? I read where they cost approx $15,500 (USD) or approx 829 (1940) yen which is a LOT different than the 2014 yen!

They're rather more expensive today. ;)

via massive paper dollar printing, the USD has about 1/100 the purchasing power of the pre-1942 sawbuck. So, modernly, that'd make for at least a manufacturing cost that'd easily be in the high six figures - especially throwing in your FAA cert's
    :p
