    Hello Priuschat,

I just got a 2013 Prius C4. Decided to have it protected by xpel and Opticoat. Paul from Attention 2 Detail NW did some paint correction and polished it out before sealing it with Opticoat. I think it looks amazing now. [IMG]
I had the Xpel cover the front half and full hood. [IMG]
On the corner of the hood you can see a little edge. [IMG]
And a little seam half way up the fender.[IMG]
    Also covered the mirrors.[IMG].
Paul did an amazing job with the paint correction. [IMG]
Love this car and it's saving me money!

    Also had it de-badged.[IMG]

I have that on my C too. It was an unwanted add-on to my car color choice - it slowed down the negotiation process, but now I'm glad I have it. The love bugs come off so much easier and hence, don't destroy the paint finish. Really glad I have it now.

Opticoat 2.0 is amazing and I have applied it to my last 4 vehicles purchased. It truly is permanent if applied properly and not polished off.

Question: When waxing rolls around, how do you handle the Opticoat? Do you wax it too, or stay off of it?

Waxing or putting anything on top of opticoat 2.0 will only last days to a couple weeks, generally less than a month. Basically nothing adheres to it, even waxes and other sealants.

So once applied, nothing is needed on top of it except washing. If you do want to clean it up say after a year to remove minor swirls, only use Optimum Poli-seal. It will remove minor imperfections while not totally removing the opticoat 2.0. Other polishes can remove the opticoat. Poliseal will reduce its thickness but not totally remove it.

I used to use a quick detailer on it after drying just to add slickness to the paint when one rubbed their hand over it since the opticoat doesn't actually feel fresh waxed. But I have now found it cuts back on the opticoats natural ability to shed water a bit and makes the car appear dirtier inbetween washings.

So now it's just regular weekly hand washing and that's it. Opticoat 2.0 rocks.

I had the Opticoat pro applied to mine. The only difference is that pro has to be applied by a approved installed. And it is suppose to last longer. You can find local installers on the Opticoat website. The reason I did this is he also corrected the paint. Polished out all the fine scratches that would otherwise be locked in under Opticoat.

No problem, ShirLit, glad I could help.

Yeah, if I could have have someone to buy the pro from I'd have still done it myself but nonetheless, with proper washing the 2.0 compared to the pro will still last as long as I'll keep a vehicle.

Even though it was brought home new from the dealership with the white plastic still on it, I still clayed it, polished it out with their (Optimums) hyper spray polish and then opti-coated.

I'm a detail kind of guy so I just enjoy doing things to my car such as this myself. but I completely understand it is not for everyone nor does everyone have the supplies really needed to do a 'proper' job.

So it's a Polymer wax that stays on for many years ?

    I think it's a ceramic coating.
