I am looking for a 2005-2009 Prius. I know the dealer will try and sell me a warranty. It will cost about $2500 for 3 years. Is this a good idea or should I save my money?

Save your money. Many of the used car warranties will not cover the high voltage battery.

Set aside the $2500 you would have spent on the warranty to use in case anything needs fixed. If nothing breaks by the time you get rid of the car, congratulations, you have $2500 (or more if you invested it). If something does break, $2500 should be plenty if you shop around and don't instantly do what the dealer suggests (usually the dealer is much more expensive and doesn't troubleshoot as well because its your money, not theirs).

Save it. If it needs new tires or battery this will help!
