Not officially here either ;) But the insurers will say both parties are to blame, both lose their no claims bonus and only recover half their costs. You'd be a fool to claim for a wing mirror.

    2 or 3 deluges later:
(here's a note for the anti-Rain-X brigade: I haven't needed to use the main wipers (apart from a couple of sweeps) since the most recent Rain-X treatment, and I haven't needed to use the rear-wiper at all!! - I suppose it could also be the superior aerodynamics of the Prius), and each time I've reversed, the view from the rear-view camera has been as clear as a bell)

So Autoline After Hours had a host wax on how wonderful "augmented reality" is in the Land Rover and should be on tractor trailer trucks. He pointed out that tractor trailers run over pedestrians that the truck driver can not see. So I posted in the comments:

He also mentioned weak hybrid sales in the 'past five months' and I pointed out gasoline prices have been under $3.50/gal. In March 2014, Prius hatchback sales recovered to the last time gasoline exceeded $3.50/gal. But I'm not really too worried about them 'getting a clue.'

Perhaps some of our skeptics might call her up and ask what she thinks about backup cameras? Perhaps Toyota USA?

Does NO GOOD...if drivers don't actually USE it...or pay attention as they're supposed to their surroundings.

...exactly like: "...you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink..." (it's an ANALOGY people).

    I agree 100%.

No one ever claimed that rear view cameras would prevent all such accidents. But it has been shown with a reasonable amount of certainty that they would significantly reduce such accidents.

You can't make a horse drink by leading him to water, but your chances are better.

Gotta love the gooberment mentality that "...punishes the many for the stupidity/errors of the few..."

If the stupid few were harming themselves, I would be against more regulation.

Well, this thread was brought to mind yesterday when, arriving home I witnessed a BMW X3 (SUV) reversing out of a parking-space, demolishing a warning cone placed by a maintenance crew doing some post-winter surface patching, the bimmer drove right over the cone, didn't even bother to stop or get out to assess any damage - I wondered if the stupid driver was asleep, or perhaps they were busy texting or posting a "selfie" to FarcePuke!!! (sigh!) - Wil (thankful they weren't driving on the bit of road I'd planned on using!)
