Unfortunately it looks like corporate has cracked down on allowing online sales of extended warranties to out of state customers.

So that means I need to start shopping locally for warranties, and I won't get a great deal as from some of our online friends.

What are current prices these days for warranties? How much negotiation is possible for dealers (i.e. how much profit is baked into the numbers)?

Did they? My impression was that they just couldn't advertise like they used to. Have you tried contacting one of the older posts on here?

Extended warranties are mostly profit and not necessary. I tell the dealer: Why would I need it, Is the car going to break? Bank your money for any unlikely repairs.

Extended warranties are nearly always not worth it, but I understand that some people feel that they need the additional coverage.
Be sure that if you do buy one that you get the manufacturer's warranty and not one of the fly-by-night "coverages" that you'll probably get fliers for.
Generally speaking the OEM will send you a "last chance" offer for their warranty usually in the mail when they think that your regular warranty is about to expire, although it's been over 25 years since I've bought a Toyota and they might not hold to this rule.

    Keep looking.

    Good Luck!

When my wife traded her 2005 Matrix last year for a 2010 Matrix (the local Toyota dealer's loaner car with just over 6k miles on it) she was offered the Toyota extended 7 yr/100k miles warranty for around 1200$. As money was tight at the time she said no thanks as we couldn't afford it. Well somehow he managed to get it added on to her monthly payment for about 4$ to which we said ok. Over the 6 years of the loan that would make it around 300$. While her previous car went over 100k with just brakes as any real work done on it and I expect this to also you never know what might happen so we figured cheap insurance for complete bumper to bumper.

When I purchase my Prius C Two at the end of its lease I plan to add in the Toyota extended warranty at hopefully a similar price.to what the wife paid.

Subaru harasses me just about quarterly about an extended warranty for my Outback. I'd expect the same from Toyota.

With that said from cruising the Outback forums, the Subaru direct price isn't all that good. Can do better through a dealer that sells on there, with quotes via PM.
