They can change it at the dealership. Some have one beep others have none.

Is the car still misfiring? If it was something that happened for a bit then quit my guess might be on water in the gas? That's happened to a car of mine before.

That's a good point about water in gas.
It was just that one time a few weeks ago, l drive it almost daily.

Seems to be a lot here in Charleston.

Yeah, that happened to my Contour once. There is a station nearby that is old and probably has old tanks that leak. Did it happen within a few days of a lot of rain? That's when it happened to my Contour so I knew it was probably water in the gas.

I do see a lot here. I'm in the Upstate area. I know two people that have them and one who will be getting one soon.

Follow the steps from Tideland Prius' opening post in this thread:

Disabling the Reverse Beep | PriusChat

DP-holik is correct in that you need Techstream-level software to disable gen3 chimes.

That was an oversight on my part. I hadn't noticed that the one in question was a Gen2. I need to get mine fixed, I hate that infernal beeping!

There have been reports of dealers not wanting to disable gen3 beeps citing safety issues and others wanting money for the service. It is a customizable feature, however, and they really shouldn't hassle you or try to charge for it. Hopefully your dealer plays nice!

Also, I believe gen3's can only be programmed to beep once when put in reverse, but this should be tolerable compared to the constant back-up beep.

    m.wynn,
Thanks for your advice, I will check out the link you posted.
Want the beeping to go away when backing up.
Looks like my thread has been moved out of the Nubie Forum, didn't want to ,
But if the big guys insist, why not.
