Your gauges show almost exactly what mine do. I haven't programmed the MG1 or MG2 into my scanguage yet, so I'll hae to see if those are close as well.
My SOC is about 2% higher than yours around 85% and 23%, but I've also taken the pack all the way down to 18% and gotten the two purple bands on the center console SOC gauge. Don't ask me how it's done, I can't say for sure yet. But I had to drive below 20 mph the first time
Your ev range is about what I average as well too. :) But I'm an ev range finder for lack of a better description and I drive routes that have shown better ev range more often then the ones that show lessor ev range.

    Thanks for posting video :)

since I'm an ev fanatic :(
if I don't make my destination in ev, as soon as the ICE turns on, I find a place to pull over, shut off the car and take a pic or pics of the dash displays. Then continue on to my destination. I might even be a 999 mpg addict already.

My SOC started at 85% too, but the act of setting up the car and video/data equipment consumed 2%.

gota love those other youtube prius vids in the suggests after your video. (-2 F No Heater Commute) ( -10 F No Heater ---- ) :D

My SOC also drops as I'm taking shots of the gauges.
After watching the vid again I see the ICE switched on just as it dropped out of 23%, which is where mine switches on the ICE too.
I thought I saw it switch at 19% the first time I watched.

I'm guessing MG1 is EV power and MG2 is regen.

The cell temp, pack intake temp and coolant temp gauges will show a lot when it gets colder if the Li-ion pack is anything like the NiMh packs.

I'll never turn my heater off in winter just to save an ounce or two of fuel. Better ways to serve that goal would be to walk, take transit or ride a bike.

The point of driving without the heater was to demonstrate what the battery was capable of at those extreme low temperatures.

I think it takes a fairly long time before the interior heater would have any effect on the battery, which is isolated in a battery compartment. Besides that, Toyota has their cold-weather test facility in northern Manitoba, and the Prius battery was tested there to the fullest.

i think john meant how far the battery would take him, without the confusion caused by the ice charging the battery as it warmed up and also provided some motive miles.

    Just for the halibut
If the Li-ion pack works so well in the cold, why is ev range so much lower in the winter months
as compared to what most drivers see in the summer months?

I think cold temperatures may affect the maximum battery storage capacity, but not the performance. There's also more friction to consider, due to thickening of all the lubricants.

Stiffness of the car, more wind resistance in winter, heavier air, tires are stiff, rolling resistance reduced! using heater and fans more. Head lights on more. Just more general use of the battery's
    The list goes on.

I've seen -54C in my time. Never want to see it again.

Electrical resistance increases when the temperature drops below freezing and grows higher in the extremes.

So, you'll always have less range available even without taking the other efficiency influences into account.

And sadly, we had to deal with a lot of greenwashing in the past. There were those who claimed no EV at all was possible then. That video brought that effort to undermine to a quick end.

At truck stops, they have a heating and or cooling duct they put into the side window of the rig's cab while the driver sleeps, with the truck off. Also a lot of times it gives them 120v ac, water, and so on

Yep during winter, my kWh per 100 miles jumps about 60%. From a typical 22kWh/100 to 35kWh/100. And those of us with the base model may see a higher increase because of the halogen headlights.

Sadly, there are also those who currently claim there is no problem with greenhouse gas.
If I'm labeled a tree hugger I wonder what they should be called.

ya, the money thing is completely subjective, and of course, depends on what you're comparing it to.
