IMG_0913.JPG Hi yesterday I pulled out the cabin filter to see how dusty it was and found it had chewed paper bits on top and it was chewed through. I looked in the slot there it goes and saw the remains of a nest! Cleaned it out best I could, but where else could the little critter be.

He goes back and forth, sleeps there and then goes to work. There are threads on here (maybe in the regualar prius sections) on how to add screening to the air intakes. Or you try to clean it out and trap or poison the mice in the area.

You need to send a photo to Toyota Motors Corp or the media. I'm sure it will get their attention. It should not be our job to fix it.

The same thing happened to me today. Does not happen to the BMW or any other cars that park in the same spot. So sad the delership just did 75,& didn't even change the filters! Even though I paid for the extreme version. I have poop and pee from mouse everywhere after picking the car up from being detailed. AWESOME...now its going to another shop tmrw to find the mouse and replace filters. Gross!

Just curious. Do you park your car in a garage or outside? I have a detached garage and I get mice in my garage but I have as yet to get them in my car. I keep Tom Cat bait blocks year round in my garage. I like to think that helps.

That mouse gets around. I pulled out my spiffy carbon cabin air filter to find a big hole gnawed through the middle. I didn't see a nest but I'll take a better look tomorrow.

I park outside and we all share the driveway so the Prius rotates its spot but the only one with mice. I found the most droppings in the back seats(when they are down it creates a tunnel) with a trail underneath the seats to the cabin air filters. I hope they dont discover any major chewing or damage tmrw at the shop.

Thanks for the reply. I'm always concerned they will get in mine. I know it does not matter whether you park in a garage or outside, they get in to everything everywhere.

Ours is parked outside in a carport There are a few cats wandering around I thought they would take care of the litter critters. This is one of the smaller species, the mountain lions don't get as close to the houses. PICT0625.JPG

Nice and serene there. I would like to be your neighbor. I live in congested Chicago suburb.

Thanks, it is beautiful here, 4 true seasons. Never cold enough to plug a car in, but lots of wildlife above and below ground. We put our Prius away for the winter months usually 4 months. It won't make it up our driveway ..the Sienna is AWD.

Beautiful there. It sure beats this crazy rat race in the big cities. Being snowed in there would be nice for me. Nice and quiet just like life is supposed to be. Thanks for posting the pic.

Thanks for posting; checked my filter and NO there wasn't any evidence of nest building BUT I did find the filter compartment door was completely off ( my fault when I changed the filter about a year earlier)...The door was resting just below the opening and must have been the mystery source of an intermittent rattle for some time....
Reinstalled and good for now.....Again thanks..

Cabin filter changed to charcoal to prevent mouse. Fingers crossed it works and even though I just drove four hours home. I did not eat or even sneak a snack in the car. UGH....
