Chrome and Firefox are on PC as well. I would assume they are better than IE11 as well. Most of the PC guys I know scrapped IE11 and refuse to use it.

IE is necessary for some Servers, so revert to IE10 or IE9 if you must, but use it only for those limited reasons. IE11 is useless for everything.

And then there's the selective Free Speech Issue.
    A 33 page thread disappeared.

Of course it's his party and he can cry if he wants to....

    Danny replied:
I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I'm open to discussing it if you want.

Danny, would this be better handled PM? But I'm sure others would like to know what it takes to make a big thread disappear without a trace or explanation.

Maybe it got banished to the FHOP politics area? I don't know which thread this is either...

In the future, it might be best to archive threads/pages that people think are important to Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free Books, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine, to prevent revisionist history. Unfortunately, links tend to break when software changes, so many links archived there may be unreachable unless someone has the old URL (in email, bookmarks, linked from somewhere else etc.)

Another thread that mysteriously vanished and possibly got banished was the "ibm-starts-laying-off-sets-aside-1-billion-in-payout-its-the-economy-silly" something like that thread. This is copy pasted from my address bar. Perhaps it got political? I know I posted a bunch to it and have been meaning to start a continuation of that.

BTW, I don't want access to the FHOP politics area. I would probably get too upset by some of the posts and/or waste too much time there, even though I'm not political.

    Danny and cwerdna,

This post had nothing to do with politics.
It was an excellent technical discussion about the differences between the PiP and the Volt.
But,,, there was a lot of opinionating going on, and also a lot of petty hurt feelings.
As I said, it had some very good links and graphs that I wish I had saved. Good old copy/paste is what was needed for m to save it....

I'm afraid some complaints were made to just the right moderator and that one moderator axed it.

Danny, is that the role of the moderators? They can make it go away without the courtesy of an explanation?

    ps,
When I had my '10 Prius IV W/Solar Sunroof I bought accessories from the PC Shop, like the Fog Light kit, the Sunscreen, the Cargo organizer and other stuff I can't remember now.
I was the OP on a popular ATF Changes are Required thread.
I believe I added positively to this forum.

    Bill,

That thread had so many off-topic posts on it... remember all the "please start a new thread" requests... because the original message had long been lost?

There was reams of incorrect information included as well. That wasn't helpful in any way, nor chould people even find the corrections.

If you'd like to discuss something, go ahead and start a thread for it.

    John !
    Ol' Buddy,
Are you the moderator that killed it off? Couldn't just the most offensive posts be deleted to avoid offending the more sensitive readers?

At 33 pages it must have had some interest to some readers, no?

    bisc,
Do you have a list of the 'kine' of graphs and links that got killed? They were some of the more useful parts of that thread.
I agree, the opinion parts were just a bunch of whiners, on both sides, of that very civil technical discussion.

Can anyone, if Danny won't, describe what it takes to kill a thread without an explanation?
Just so it doesn't happen again.

I agree with the OP, the ads suck and so do the popups as well as all the other assorted java, funky javajscripts and obfuscated sources.

Butt, I'm also a realist and I know the web ain't gonna get no better anytime soon and more then likely ever.
So I take what is dished out, like everyone else, but I dump it as soon as I'm gone.
God help those that leave all those bits and pieces stored for the machine to double dip on them.

The graphs were intermixed with inappropriate content. When a new thread gets started... which we know it will... they will be shared again. It's like not the original source is gone too.

The problem was, like with many threads we've seen over the years, value was lost due to helpful members ignoring individual posts then just abandoning the thread entirely. When it falls apart like that, there's no sense allowing it to continue. That's when it is appropriate to either lock or hide. Hiding is the more effective for getting value-added content re-added. So, it makes sense to go that route.

    john,
You speak as though you are the one that killed it.

Are you the moderator that killed the thread?

Is this THE official explanation of why it was killed, or just more of your opinion-ing? As usual...
(Hey, the 'reason for editing' is gone. I was going to say "just to get my Ol'Buddy spinning"...)

Just trying to get the official version of what it takes to make a thread disappear, so it doesn't happen again.

    Faster and more stable........total BS.

I've been complaining for months now that most of the time the site is so slow for me that it might as well be dead and what has the owner done to try and help with the problem........NOTHING useful.
He really doesn't give a crap as long as the clicks keep coming and the revenue flows.

If he really did care, he would be trying to work with me to find the problem.
Why.....good will for one thing but also there is a good chance that the problem is affecting other users too......who don't have the patience to wait for pages to load and have just gone away mad.

    Terrible customer service. TERRIBLE.

Moderators have badges on their profile bars.
    <== Like this one.

No, I didn't kill it. Since I don't have a plug-in I don't get into the plug-in forum very often so I never saw the thread in question. One funny note about PiPs and Volts: one of the Moderators traded in his PiP for a Volt. I can assure you he's not going around trying to 'protect' the reputation of the PiP by removing threads.

The thread that everyone's been talking about should be making a re-appearance soon. Thanks for your patience while we worked it out internally.
