Failed Inverter: Check Hybrid System Error U0110 Lost Communication W/ Drive Motor Cntrl Mod A

    I'm having it repaired under the warranty and then selling it privately where it can fetch 14-16k. I'm flying to California to pickup a plugin prius for 21k after dealer & tax incentives..

    Yes, it wouldn't make much sense to trade it while broken when it is under warranty.

    My question now is, was this a 2010 issues as I've seen a handful of inverter failures on only 2010's or will my 2014 be subject to the same issues? Still wonder if it was related to the recall (which they deny).

    Got a call last week that they've put two new inverters and a new CPU in the car and it still won't start. They are escalating it up to Toyota Engineering. Anyone else has had an issue like this?

    I'm surprised toyota hasn't bought the car for a case study - they are going to end up with more money in it under warranty with labor and rental fees than the car is worth.

    The OP should show it to the incompetent dealership. If the problem is with wiring, throwing new parts isn't going to fix it for sure.

    Like I said in my post back in May, this car probably needs some $5 dielectric grease in wiring connectors.

    It sounds as though your dealer's service department does not know enough about what they are doing with a Prius. You might at some stage wish to ask Toyota if they can recommend a competent dealership for future work.

    The car is functional again.. the mechanic doesn't know what was wrong with it. He said they unplugged a wire to the transaxle to test it (spun the motors) and afterwards the car started. He thinks one of the motors may have been stuck and was causing noise to the communications.

    friendly-jacek: I showed them your post initially and they looked at me like I was crazy.

    26 hours, 2 new inverters, new computers modules and no known cause. I guess the plus side is that it isn't another gen3 inverter failure (also, I was able to put 9,500 miles on a rental prius!)

    No, he unplugged it and plugged it again and the problem with bad electric contact went away. That was the first thing they should have done with all connectors instead throwing new inverters and computers at it. Idiots!
