I am thinking of taking my 2012 Prius C two to my local track (Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL) for T

    Capilary action... and it really doens't need to be much water. drag racing is all about getting the power to the ground.. a little bit of water could disrupt that traction. With a front drive car, loosing traction on the front wheels is not as bad...but when you loose traction on the rear, it gets rather interesting.

    But safety aside, people came to race and sprinkling water down the first few feet of the track doesn't make for an enjoyable time for the people entering the track behind you.... Call it track etiquette...

    We have taken our C2 for laps at Virginia International Raceway near Danville, VA at least a half dozen times.. Best lap with documentation is 2:57.432 which is an average of 66.5 mph on a 3.27 mile road course. Top speed verified by my Garmin was 101. 5 mph on both straights. Despite the lack of power the C is a fun car to drive at maximum speeds. It is difficult to get a clear run as we are always moving over to let faster cars by - and everyone but an MGA is faster.
    Alas, the C2 didn't break the Homda Civic Hybrid lap time (Utube) but then Honda Civic chassis is much better than a Yarius. Perhaps the new Prius on Mazda 2 chassis will improve.
    And the first thing to do is disconnect the front antisway bar - with that thing in place we couldn't even be faster than that MGA. Wider wheels, better tires, like BFG Rivals or Dunslop D2's, and lowering with Yarius lowering springs, and better shocks then you can have fun on track except when getting out of the way of BMW's, Corvettes, and Porsches.
    A word of warning, the Prius c is not a vehicle for street racing; you are at the mercy of ignorance in action. They don't know it til its too late.

    I began racing in 1956 and continued for more than 50 years but not a single clutch since 2010. Clutches are sooo slow. Ask any F1, or supercar driver. I look for NASCAR to phase out of them any year now.
    BTW if youre looking for a new 'family car' check the dual clutch DSG ones coming around from hyundai.
    There was a time' when the spirit of Sochiro was still there, Honda would have been first with DSG's and with a 20o hp CRZ too. But now they just another car company.
    As for that 200 hp hybrid; the first company to offer that for the mass market will own the hybrid market.
    The mass hybrid market lacks a halo car but when it gets one, the flood will begin. A 918 for the masses.
    Right now it looks like Toyota but VW is coming up fast - and likely will after they buy Fiat/Chrysler. Yep, its in works.

    Why would VW want Fiat/Chrysler? VW is number one in Europe , not sure why? But they are. They have no need for Fiat or Chrysler.

    Simple. they want to be the biggest automaker. Adding Fiat/Chrysler would put them signicantly bigger than GM or Toyota. Big counts.

    Well big did not work for GM. Where is Pontiac, Saturn, Oldsmobile and Holden today. Big is not better, besides its the number of sales that makes a company impressive not the size.

    Saturn should still be here. But they tried to make it too big. should have stuck to their roots.

    Saturn is a lousy car. Compared to competition they were laughable. And GM dropped Pontiac and Olds because Toyota, Nissan, and Honda offered much better cars and GM couldn't sell enough. GM used to sell one half of all vehicle sales in US but once Honda, Toyota, and Nissan came they are lucky to sell 1/3.
    Holden is n Australian car and still in production. In fact thr hot rod Cehevy SS are built by Holden .
    Ask why the last 4 big plants to sell cars in the US are in Mexico. Think their prices might include $ to pay unemployment funds in US?

    Saturn was what was needed. Not what was wanted. Horsepower is a wonderful thing and Honda used to produce that very well in their small cars. But, in doing so, they couldn't compete at a price-point that Saturn was able to achieve. Saturn was a great entry level car. Honda was more than entry level, so of course there is going to be some cost cutting, but seeing as Saturn was more popular during that time, I wouldn't say lousy. It was just in the same boat as the VW bug back in the day. Affordable to everyone.

    The Holden Commodore is no more in 2017. The Ford Falcon will be also gone in 2016. The locally built Toyota Aurion and Camry and TCH will be gone by 2017 too.

    I only take my SRT-4 to the track... but I would like to see a C doing a burnout... better put it into service mode first to defeat the TCS. lol
