A way to allow me to operate wing mirror folding and windows

    Hi all,

Just got our 7 seater earlier this month. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to change settings to allow me to operate the wing mirror folding and windows after the car has been turned off. In shopping centre car parks that are narrow I like to fold the wing mirrors but often forget to do this before I turn off the car so I have to turn it back on fully and then press the button.

At other times I want to park then sit in the car to wait for the kids to get out of school. I park, then turn off the car, do a bit of reading, but again, as above after some time I realise I need to open the windows... too late.

If this has been asked before my apologies. Appreciate any help and advice. Cheers.

I can't speak to your backwards down-under car, but here the windows work after the car is shut off - until you open a door or about 30 sec.

Backwards? "down-under" is acceptable, the word prius to it have other connotations.

On topic: I want it to work even after 30 seconds, in fact, to work regardless what mode the power button it is in. The only choice it seems is for it to be in the "on" mode. Hopefully there is a setting somewhere.

Thanks for this. Yes the alpha and "+" is practically the same as the Aust. PriusV. Looks like this is the way to get it working though I had hoped it wasn’t going to be a mod but a simple setting. Just have to put it down as another negative.

Give yourself some time to adapt. I've had my Toyota Sienna van/MPV for three months and it has finally become habitual to press the mirror folding button before I power down.

If you do decide to buy an aftermarket harness kit that automatically folds your mirrors when you power off your Prius, you might want to verify that it allows folding the mirrors inward while driving. I've had to fold my Sienna mirrors in twice in the past week to squeeze through traffic but it is far wider than our Prius.

Windows give you 30 sec to operate after the car has turned off. If you open the driver's door though, it will kill all the power windows.

Or just "restart" the engine and then lower the windows. It will likely start and remain in EV mode - without the petrol engine starting - while you lower the windows.
