I am excited to buy used "NEW" Prius, when i was in India, i was dreaming to buy this car(toyota still not yet released this car in india :) ), right now i am in US san diego on work permit, I've decided to buy used prius car, I got 2010->Prius II(80k on odo) from independent seller.(around 12500$ is this fair price..?), what are the things i need to look before buying from independent seller.

    Thank you very much.

welcome to priuschat! there are a few things you should do. first, get a car fax report to make sure there have not been any accidents. you can log into toyota owners with the vin to see if proper maintenance and recalls have been done. at 80,000 it is just oil and filters, etc., but over the next 40,000, it will need some more major work done like coolant and plugs. reset one of the trip meters and take it for a good long ride to see what kind of mpg's you are averaging. and check the 12 volt battery, they are notoriously weak on the 2010's. all the best!(y)

2010 with 80k miles for $12500 in san diego sounds like a salvage vehicle price. If it is, I would avoid it. They are very hard to sell when you need to sell... Like when your work permit ends

Thanks for response, i just avoided that car, i got one more deal which is 2007 year and 105000 on odo and 2nd owner now, pretty clean and leather seats and backup camera, is it worth to buy.

update: I just looked at Toyota owners site about this car service history and carfax and autocheck all odo meter reading and service maintenance are matching, everything looks perfect so far, last updated ODO is 105k and every 6k current and previous owners has done servicing in Toyota dealer and pepboys, and present owner has changed tires last year in mid of oct.

A 2007 Prius with factory leather is a top of the line car. 15000 miles/year is not excessive. If the price is right it could be a good deal.

I checked the car, everything looks so clean no visible dents, and car is packed with navigation(owner upgraded to 2013 navigation dvd) and complete leather seats and Bluetooth along with ipod/iphone integration kit.
