Alarm triangle, but scangauge shows no codes.

I use a scangauge to monitor the traction battery in my 2001 prius. Today when I started the car to come home, the alarm triangle came on, but the scangauge shows no codes found. The car ran fine and got me home, but I have no idea what the alarm is about. Is there a way to go deeper to figure out what the alarm is about?

Forgive me, if necessary, for starting here, but have you programmed your ScanGauge with the needed XGAUGEs to retrieve the battery and HV ECU codes and "inf" subcodes?

I started this thread to find out if there is a way to access codes that aren't available using the standard scangauge features. I just used the "scan" feature and it reads "no codes found."

My scangauge is programmed to show Vhi, Vlo, module voltages, and temperatures. I have a list that shows me how to program for other operating parameters, but nothing that shows ECU codes or subcodes. Any help in that area would be appreciated.

Anybody out there? Is there another thread where programming the scangauge to read subcodes is discussed? The car is just sitting right now, as I have been on vacation this week, but I will need the car again soon.

There's a central repository for the known Gen 1 parameter codes here. It's not directly in ScanGauge format, but a general form so it can be exported for ScanGauge, Torque, ... whatever .... There are different exporters on the bottom of this page, but at the moment they take little work to run (you'd download one onto your own computer and run it, and tell it the name of the database file, and it spits out your XGAUGE codes).

If that sounds like too much trouble, there's a Google document here with the codes already exported to ScanGauge format.

Thanks, that helps. Sounds like I should start with "Number of Engine DTCs," and "Number of HV DTCs." Did I miss any categories? Will this detect the presence of subcodes as well?

Look for the things labeled "INF codes". I think there are something like 5 of them, not all consecutive.

I got zero for Engine DTCs and zero HV DTCs, and on INFO 1,3,4, and 5 I got zero also. But on INFO2 it reads "123." In the meantime, the scary red triangle has gone away.

Number of battery DTCs? (ECU address d5 parameter 9c)?

Number of battery DTCs is also zero. Do these codes clear themselves after a time, or do they stay in there until they've been cleared? Since the triangle went away I've been driving the car, and there don't seem to be any problems, although I've noticed the state of charge seems to be a little low. Between 55 and 60% instead of between 60-64%.

They have to be cleared but one method is to disconnect the 12V AUX battery for a minute or so.
Still within the operational range, we'd need to know more about the speed and altitude changes that occur when these SOC changes.

Well, the driving that I do is pretty consistent. I drive 28 miles to work and back. Same route every time. It's mostly highway driving, at about 65 MPH. There's one good sized hill part way that's an uphill in the morning, and downhill on the way home.

So it sounds like if there were codes in there while the triangle was on, they should still be in there. But the only thing I have that isn't zero is the INFO 2 which still reads "123." I imagine I could start programming individual DTCs, but I had assumed that if the "number of __DTC" code returns a zero, then there's nothing to look for.
