Changing State Registration Shortly after purchase

    Two weeks ago, I bought a new 2014 Plug-in from the dealership and registered it in my home state. I'm using Toyota Financial Services (TFS) to pay my bills, but I haven't paid my first bill yet. Is it possible to go to the dealership and "undo" the registration and get it registered in the state to where I'll be moving in a few days? The sales tax is also lower in the new state that I'll be moving into, so can I have the total amount that I owe to TFS re-adjusted to the lower number? Thanks for any info.

    ...not sure. But if you can disclose the two states, we might be able to help a little bit.
    For example, if MD is state of purchase, believe there is ~$550 sales tax deduction for PiP. Also MD is full CARB state re: warranty. We'd need to know orig state of "purchase" and current state.

    I think that would be a mistake and the dealer likely won't even discuss it with you seriously.
    It would be a TREMENDOUS pain in the butt for them.........and might border on fraud.

    Two weeks is a long time. The documentation should have been submitted to the DMV and processed by now. It may not just be a registration. It may also need a new title and you'll need a new license. The only way I see the dealer getting involved is if their office made a mistake in the paperwork.
