Pulse and Glide in EV mode? Also are there best speeds to do P&G?

Isn't it the case that in HV mode on the PiP, the engine must spin above about 42mph, even though modifications to the power split device for Gen III allow the car to get up to 62mph with the ICE not spinning (but in EV mode only)? So the maximum speed in the Pulse phase is limited to 42mph? Is there ANY operating mode in which MG1 will operate in generator mode and be putting energy into the battery? Normal regeneration is with the big MG2, right? (I thought I understood more or less how this all worked, but I guess not. Perhaps since I lack a degree in mechanical engineering, it is hopeless for me to really understand the hybrid synergy drive. Maybe I need to nag my son, who DOES have a mechanical engineering degree.)

most pulse and glide takes place under 42mph anyway.

Yep, but being able to start at ~ 46 mph is really practical in terms of other cars on the road. A threshold of 50 mph would be close to ideal IMO. Not because much of the P&G cycle would occur at 50 mph, but it would free me from having to watch the speedometer as I gain speed in city driving.

It hurts my OCD personality every time I inadvertently hit 47 mph during P&G and then have to wait for the car to slow down and dissipate hysteresis down to 43 mph to re-engage EV.
