I live in Mexico and have had my 2006 here for 7 years. Recently the dash lit up: red triangle, abs, stability control.
Battery charges and discharges rapidly, battery cooling fan on when running and power is reduced. If I drive it long enough the hybrid system shuts down and the car will go about 20 miles per hour.
My local mechanic ran diagnostics and came up with these diagnostic codes: C1259, C1310, U3F00, P3000.
I'm not driving the car until I understand what the codes mean. They all seem to have to do with the hybrid system.
The hybrid system and batteries are under California Emissions guarantee (10yrs, 150,000 miles) I have 8 years and 110,000 miles. It can be repaired in the States under warranty, since the vehicle is still registered in California, but I'm trying to decide whether to have a local Toyota dealer check it out or transport it 500 miles to the US.
Would appreciate any suggestions or insights into the codes. Thanks.

First, make sure that the orange traction battery interlock switch is properly inserted, located on the left side of the traction battery. You can gain access to this by removing the folding hatch floor, then removing the black plastic tray over the spare tire.

When the interlock switch is inserted, the lever is pivoted 90 degrees, then slid down to lock in place.

If that is not the issue, then the traction battery or the traction battery ECU has probably failed. Note that your US vehicle's warranty is not valid in Mexico, only in the US and Canada.
