(2014 PriusC2) Am I the only one that it bothers that my $20,000+ car came with a styrofoam filler in the trunk? Really? Why hasn't anyone come up with a trunk storage box that fits in there, for tools or small things? I can't even imagine how much it would cost to replace that... Someone please create a bin that fits in there!!!?

It would be worse if it were filled with styrofoam peanuts.

Wrong. The smallest slimmest Styrofoam inserts ever, almost completely aluminum! Large aluminum supports with very thin foam inserts

I needed the room for an amplifier. Wanted something light and easy to build. Sched 40 PVC with 1/4 plastidipped plywood on top.

I'm thinking about taking on this challenge by making a fiberglass cover with a compartment for whatever little space might be there for tools or whatever. Maybe next month I will start on it

Really? Apparently I missed that. My car before this was an 2006, it had the spare tire, and I could store my wallet, lunch, paper plates, plastic utensils, you name it! Was hoping for something similar.

Can you make me one? How heavy would it be?

My husband just made a good point. He suggested that maybe they used styrofoam to keep it light. He thinks the lighter the car the better the fuel economy. He has a corolla sport so I checked out his truck, his cover was made of thick plastic....why couldn't they do that for the PriusC????

. Hi frog, I have to see if I have the time to mess with it. I will give it a try but it won't be until Mid September or late September. I don't know how heavy it would be but maybe I can try to make it out of plastic or plexiglass . When I start I will keep everyone updated with detailed pics.

Maybe I missing the appeal of being able to store stuff in your trunk and yes the lighter weight the better mpg. What year Corolla?

I'm just jumping in on this. I literally just went to the dealership to see if I could purchase something for my trunk to replace the styrofoam. Its hard for me to believe that the answer is to make something my self. Is that really all there is? Even now? I have a 2013 Prius C 4
