Looking for something to install to protect the front end from the random deer/ bad parker /etc...or will I have to custom make something?

No one seen anything? I want to put something like this on front to protect from bad parallel parkers, animals and such:
Maybe I'll just have to fab my own, I do have a welder.

hmm, that might be a little extreme for what I'm looking to do but I did just pick this up, now to figure out a way to mount it up!

Mounting, like shown below, shouldn't be that hard. Though I'd imagine that you will have to cut a slit into your bumper. I've had the bumper off several times and to me it seems there are good mounting points on the bumper reinforcement.

do me a favor, when you get that push/bully bar installed on your prius, the next time you pull into a parking space opposite a pickup truck and the owner is still in his truck. Put your prius in park and just start revving your engine, and tell us how terrified the guy in the pickup truck is.

new member here and also a master Toyota tech. There's a company here in central texas that owns MANY gen 2 and gen 3 prius. They drive them non-stop for days delivering medications to pharmacies. Most have well over 300,000mi and every one of them is beat to hell from impacts with something. They've had to improvise front grill guards for them. I'm on my ipad right now. I tried to upload a file but I'm unsure it worked. If not, I'll get one tomorrow on the computer at the shop.

It's rectangular in shape. There's about a 6" gap from the left and right fog lights and goes from just above license plate bracket to the bottom lip of the bumper. It's flat so it doesn't match the curve of the bumper. The upper mounts go through the square removable covers and you put nuts on from behind the bumper. The bottom has two anchors that go to the cradle and has two bolts that hold them there. Simple design. Looks weird, but apparently works.

From the gap under the left headlight, and front fender, it looks like the bumper cover is coming off.

Indeed it is! Like I said, they beat these cars to $#!t. This is actually a good one. Most have NO straight panels, missing half the bumpers front and back, and the inside looks just as bad. I've had to put engines in 6 of their cars due to lack of maintenance, and I just put a trans in one last week because they ran over something and cracked the case. They're part of the reason I got a prius. I figured the way they treat these things so badly, if I kept up with mine it'll go far and beyond my expectations.

All the cop cars up here have a functional bumper bolted on in the front.

I think the older you are the more you shake your head over these kinds of discussions. These new front and rear, painted plastic, Styrofoam filled, clipped on "fairings" don't deserve the label "bumper".

Bumpers no longer serve the original purpose. They are now designed to give a less injurious impact to pedestrians in the event of hitting someone.
In Europe there is legislation being put forward to prevent the fitting of such guards and bull bars on new vehicles unless the vehicles primary use is off road "farms, forestry, and such".

Yeah, you're right. It's too bad they can't make them more crash-friendly though. There'd be no harm in rubber contact zones, maybe solid color flexible plastic (like traffic cone material), better fastener design. Design with an aim to take minor impacts without being destroyed, or have inexpensive sacrifice periphery.

I guess it's design for the herd. It doesn't happen because consumers don't find it of interest.

I just saw your post. You no doubt have found something by now. If you have not, go on You Tube and type in BumpShox Bumper Guard and see if you like it.
