I recently got a 2006 Prius and I love it! So far I've changed around some electric stuff (reverse beep, key fobs) and repaired a broken door lock actuator. Besides repairing, I want to get into modding, so I thought I'd start with this because it seems easy and I have all the parts on hand. The problem is that I can't get past having a switch on my dashboard, so I want to put it in one of the empty pads to the left of the steering wheel (where the dashboard dimmer dial is). Does anyone with experience know how I could wire it there? I don't want to go blindly taking parts off, so just knowing if it's possible would be great. Thanks!

the dash comes apart very easy with a plastic wedge and a Phillips, so it will be no problem to put your switch in. there are dash disassembly vids on you tube to help.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try to report back later on when I'm finished.

I finished! Around 5 hours total and 2 trips to Radioshack, but the switch works perfectly and it's in a good place. I did have to end up taking apart the whole dash though...
