This was great in my Camry to do everything from track mileage to check OBD codes. But I'm hesitant to plug ANYTHING into the Prius till I know it's safe to do so.

    Iii,
I have used a Ultragauge OBDH in both my '05 and '14 4 with no adverse problems. I am sure that there are other owners that have them in their Prius.
I did find after having my gauge since Dec. of '04 that the display intensity had decreased. I contacted the manufacturer and the replaced the display at no cost. Can't beat that for reliability and service!

A Search finds that UltraGauge has been mentioned in many others posts, so it appears that numerous others use it.

I have an ultragauge for 3.5 years it never gave me any problems, the only reason that i bought and UG over SG is because the display its big, easy to read fonts (not that i have bad eyes) and the lighting is perfect from day to night. I really hope one day SG will realize this and begin to use LCD screen for their display.

I've used it for about a year in the Prius, leftover from being in my 4Runner. Handy since I use the tach, engine temp, digital instant MPG and battery voltage. For all of the Prius' wiz-bang technology display, it fails to provide those basic readouts.

    hi
I have just bought this UG and have noticed the trip times are way off in my toyota camry hybrid, for example a 10 minute trip the trip computer on Ultra-Gauge will show 7 minutes, is this perhaps due to the engine shutting off in the periods where the car was idling at traffic lights and coasting down hills etc? and it does not record these events on the trip time?

You might call it an Engine hours run meter, the timer counts only when your engine is running, I use Run time with my Oil miles and i rest it every oil change, its nice little feature to let you know how many hours and minutes your engine has run during that oil's life.
