on ARB's website - as of August 25, 2014 (today), 52,034 green stickers have been issued. 2,966 more to go till the 55,000 cap.

AB 2013 has been approved by assembly, passed by the senate, and now back to assembly to approve the senate changes. If passed and Brown signs, will increase to a new cap of 70,000. I think AB 2013 will kick in on January 1, 2015, so there will be a period when no more permit will be issued above the 55,000 and January 1st. Just like the last round.

Ya' know, it isn't like you are posting for all to see your Social Security number or credit card information. It's just a number, like the one on your license plate. So what's with the "xxx's" everybody is using? Just for the record, mine is 00012.

 

The "urgency" provision was removed from this bill in order to get it passed (lower vote threshold), and thus the Jan 1 effective date. The bump to 55000 was attached to a budget bill, so it took effect immediately. I think that the intent was to tide things over until Jan 1, but it sure doesn't look like it will.

 

It does not hurt to be cautious. Any personal information can be used to find other useful information for nefarious purposes.

Check cashed 8/29, stickers arrived 8/30! Number approximately 54,500. I must be in the last 1% to get one. Hey, now I can say I'm one of the 1%-ers!

 

Congrats on receiving your stickers. I'm still a bit perplexed by how the DMV issues stickers/processes applications. I received my stickers yesterday, #528XX, and my check was cashed on 8/26. Your check was cashed 3 days later and you were issued sticker #54,500. Can't believe that in 3 days the DMV issued over 1,700 stickers.

 

As I previously posted, I'm guessing that DMV employs a number of clerks who are given batches of stickers and applications to process. I don't think these folks get up and get a single sticker from a central source, which in turn gives out a single sticker in consecutive order for each processed application. Even the government isn't inefficient all the time.

 

Latest figures show that as of September 8, 2014, 53,024 "green" stickers have been issued. That's about 1,000 stickers issued in the last 2 weeks (the number was 52,034 as of August 25th). At this rate, the remaining 2,000 stickers will be issued in about 4 weeks. Fortunate that I already got mine a couple of weeks ago. Good luck to everyone waiting on their stickers.

Stickers arrived today, 9/12, postmark was 9/10.
Number was 55400+, so sticker numbers alone won't determine if they are all used up...looking forward to my Monday commute!

 

FYI...the following update is on the California ARB website, looks like all 55,000 green stickers have been issued.

"As of September 23, 2014, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has issued the 55,000 maximum green Clean Air Vehicle decals allowed by law. Assembly Bill 2013, effective January 1, 2015, authorizes DMV to issue an additional 15,000 green decals, for a new maximum of 70,000. Applications for green CAV decals will continue to be accepted at this time, however, decals cannot be issued until after January 1, 2015. "

 

I wonder if it will happen again that dealers who acquired the green decals for their incoming inventory will now jack up their prices? And the previous post confirms that AB2013, with its additional 15,000 decals, does not take effect until Jan 1 2015.

 

Wow I had no idea they changed this program, I was under the impression that I missed out since I bought my car at the end of May! Hopefully I haven't missed the boat again.

 

Thanks, I haven't applied because I still haven't gotten my license plates (dealer mixup). I'll be sure to do it ASAP though
