I know some people have experienced this issue but was wondering if there is a possibility of the radio itself overheating causing this issue. I experienced this the other day, was driving around and the volume control on the radio no longer worked. Could turn it off and all other functions worked but the volume could only be changed from the tracer buttons on the steering wheel. Shutting the car off and back on worked but for how long? Seems that this should be a recall since several owners have experienced this issue with the jbl stereo.

perhaps someone can put together a class action suit in lieu of a recall. have you reported it to nhitsa?

I could have swore I selected gen 3 technical forum. But then again I'm using my phone so I probably hit the link wrong. No I haven't reported it to nhitsa. But seems a lot of people have had this issue and it is not a isolated thing. But if my thoughts are correct it could potentially be a overheating issue which could be problematic and potentially cause a fire due to a shoring out head unit. My system does not have the navigation but it does not seem to be isolated to a specific version, just all jbl head I it's seem to have the issue. The non jbl version does not it seems

i agree, it sounds dangerous. if it were mine, i would put in a new unit for my own safety, and continue to aggravate toyota and the powers that be.

you may want to post a poll to see how many have this problem, it might be far more than you think.
