went to a large SoCal dealer, they said that the new 2015 Prius are fresh off the boat. new Corrolla style front clip and hopefully a nicer rear. Going down on Teusday to take a gander.

Well...any fears I may of subconsciously harbored concerning my 2013 suddenly looking outdated can be put to rest.

Yes, seeing the 2015 line-up makes me happy I was able to buy the 2014 of my choice yesterday at a very good price. Until I read that the Gen IVs had been delayed, I was hesitating to go for a 2014 which would look like the "old style" in 2015.

The 2015 grille looks exactly like the one on my 2012 Prius"v."

The Prius"v" has not changes since it was introduced in 2012.

My 2012 "v" looks the same as the current one, inside and out.

I kinda like that the "5" is available without all the bells and whistles, just the LED headlights and 17" rims. But I'm not that versed in US levels; is that new?

I wonder if the '15 will have a short run, like the 09.

No, because the 4th gen won't arrive before Jan 2016, so either they'll have a long 2015 or very short 2016 carryover and maybe call the 4th gen a 2017.

How so? The all-new 2009 model year Toyota Matrix arrived in February (maybe March at latest) of 2008. And I know that.

I wonder if Toyota is just marking time until all the bugs are worked out on the next gen, they may not have set even an internal date for the intro of Gen. IV, I guess we will know in time.

They will never work out all the bugs. A new design will create new bugs. Gen 1 didn't have split rear window like Gen II. Gen 2 didn't have a bridge center console like gen III.

the delay is to squeeze out more MPG. The new Volt is suppose to get 200mpg (lol) if that happened and the price was within $5,000 of a Prius then that would spell the death of the Prius. Reality is that i would have a better chance to win the California lottery. Also Tesla is going to have a cheapo, EV for $40k running on 10,000 refurbished iPhone batteries. Tesla insisted that was the cheapest way to get the price down on the car. lol.

So the Japanese, want to get the Gen 4 right out of the gate. They can still sell us gen 3 and everyone is fine with that. I would fathom that they would like to increase the range on the hybrid and increase gas mileage to 60mpg. I don't think they are content at 55mpg. Over the next 2 years the playing field is heating up.

It'd be mildly tempted, but there's more to a car than mpg (especially with our low usage). I'd be very reluctant to give up the Prius hatch configuration and cargo capacity.

No, not new- but it's just more difficult to find vs the full ($5k) "Advanced Tech" package.
I had to go outside the Tri-State area to purchase my 2012 Five with LED's/17" rims because all the Fives in NY/NJ/CT were ordered as "AT" cars.
