I personally don't want to see too much focus on MPGs out of Toyota w gen 4 Prius.

Sometimes I ask Accord Sport (sedan) owners ... 'what kind of MPGs do you get?' They will say, 'it's really good, like 25 to 30'.

I see gobs of those (new) Accord sedans around.

Is it worth it for Toyota to try to make Prius appeal to a wider audience? Maybe it's not possible given the liftback shape.

I think a tweak to the mpg would be good for a Prius Gen IV, but let's face it, I think there's room for improvement with the interior, and perhaps some styling to improve aerodynamics. I like my 2014 the way it is, but one thing I would get rid of is the design of the shift knob. Awkward putting stuff underneath it. Seems like a wasted space. Small detail for sure, but it's the little things that people end up taking notice.

i saw the 2015 prius today. it is exactly the same car as the 2014. The next 2016 is probably the gen 4 that has a corolla style front face that was at the August Las Vegas Dealers meeting

I went to the Toyota site and "built" the same model I bought two weeks ago (2014). Seems like the same car... and same price. Nothing new (so far) under this sun.

I actually really like that. It is a great place to stow my sunglasses, wallet, and phone.

they added the backup camera to the model 2 which is nice of Toyota. I guess they figured that they could reduce the price of the model 3 by adding the camera to the model 2 as standard equipment? The new MSRP is $25,250 on the model 2 - how does that compare to the 2014? after i got the price on a 2014 Prius from Longo i texted the sales manager from an Orange County Toyota dealership and they beat Longos' price by around $1,000. Needless to say i bought nothing. So all the nonsense they say at Longo about being the largest dealer in America is fine and selling the most units, but there are other dealers that easily beat their price.... with a simple text message. buying cars is so easy now - just send the sales manager a text, and 5 minutes later you got a price. lol

    no more phone calls!

Call, text, or message here on PC @DianneWhitmire from Carson Toyota. She's the best salesperson I know in the country, let alone LA.

yeah there is way more to the car then MPG, like usability, handling..

Even if they bridge 60MPG barrier, not sure I am contempt to live with horrid dashboard and crappy handling.

At present gas prices and 30K annual going from 50 to 60MPG will save 25$/mo at expense of 70hours/mo of dealing with issues. 36 cents per hour if you'd like.

True, but it's the psychological effect of getting 60 mpg. That is what makes it appealing to most. Yes going from 50 to 60 is only a 20 percent added savings to you. But the new car buyer that had been getting upper 20's to low 30's can cut the fuel cost in half. I drive about 34k annually my previous car got about 25mpg do the math. I cut my fuel cost 45 percent when I bought an 05 less than year ago. I cut $200 off my monthly fuel cost. Getting 60 mpg kicks that up to $250.

Agree. Most car buying decisions are rather emotional then rational, and that SIX-O has a big psychological impact. Still, it isn't that hard for company which made FRS to tune power steering and suspension. And it isn't as they have something to gain from selling bad handling cars!

no 2015 is the same fugly thing... only a mother would love. The 60mpg is definitely better. soon the EVs will get 100+mpge on battery so the hybrid needs to up their gams.
