I did it after we picked up our C - follow the instructions on the original link.

So before I "try" this, is there any way to go back if this doesn't work out well? Like a factory reset?

No way to go back that I know of, but I haven't heard of any problems with the release or the installation procedure.

Just a bit more info: I'm now at five updates to Entune - one at the dealer, one from a USB stick mailed to me by Toyota, one (minor) via my cellphone, and two I did myself from the download link. The only one that was any trouble was at the dealer, where I had to bug them twice to get it done.

Following up on DIY Entune updates, there's a post today on the Toyota Nation forum which suggests that Toyota may set up its own download site:
The future of Entune updates? - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

The forum member at Toyota Nation writes:

    The future of Entune updates?
According to the Toyota support tech I talked with last week, Toyota has been listening to comments from their customers and are working on a project that will allow registered Entune users to download updates directly from their website. They mentioned there are a number of issues to consider (basic disclaimer stuff) since a user could be using a USB flash drive that contains a virus that may affect their audio head unit, etc. Let's keep our fingers crossed as this would be much more convenient for those of us with older Entune systems that can't receive the updates via our cellphones.

Well this turned into a DISASTER!! I was gonna try to update mine and now it's stuck in software update mode, please insert valid update stick. I cannot get anything to work, no apps no mode switch. I'm stuck using my cd player and it will not switch to anything else. I tried 2 different usb sticks, one using fat32 and nothing it will not update or get past this screen. I did everything as suggested on that website....

When you formatted the USB as FAT32, did you give it the volume name mentioned in the instructions?

I named it 14A. Like I said, I did everything that website suggested. The problem was it never asked if I wanted to update from XXXX version to this version. It just said updating then that screen popped up.

I've googled this problem and there's nothing on it. I can't even reset entune.

You may have to try disconnecting the 12 volt battery and leaving it off for a few minutes. This will force everything to reboot when you reconnect it.

I can get the negative off, but I can't get the positive off. I don't know how to remove the top part of the seat. From this thread I can see part of the top I need ot take off but I don't know how to get that part off.

You need to disconnect only one lead, doesn't matter which one.

    Negative lead is traditional.

I took off the negative and left it out for 5 minutes and nothing happened. Looks like I'm SoL until I can call the entune hotline on Monday.

EDIT: Nevermind I forgot what a pain it was to put back the push caps on bottom part of the seat. I almost broke a few of them. I'll just call Toyota Monday, thanks for the help guys.

It isn't trying to update via a cell link is it?
