Im going to go look at a Certified 2012 Prius v Five tomorrow and was wondering if its too much to ask them to update the Entune and Navigation or if that should be included with it being Certified and is $22995 a fair price for a 2012 with 36372 miles.

    Thank you for the help!

It never hurts to ask. I predict they will say yes to the Entune update, as the only cost is their time. Is Entune 3.2 still the current version for a Prius v 5 w/out ATP?

It will be more interesting to see what they say about the navigation update. I think that navigation update answer will tell you more about the deal you are getting. If they are making a lot of money on you or they are eager to make the sale they will say yes to the under $200 full retail navigation update.

It is for sure reasonable to request the updates. They want to sell you the car, so I'd think they'd oblige you.

As for the price, that depends on where you live, local demand, etc. For a reference, we bought our 2013 v 3 with 34k on it about 3 months ago now, and paid a little under $20k. Very clean car, clean carfax, etc. We've been very happy with it so far.

Thank you! I'm nervous because I've never bought a used car no idea what to expect and if I can ask them to go down on the price or what to include in the sale. They've got a Cert 2014 but its around $28k and a little more than I want to spend right now unless they are willing to come down and give me great trade in in my Cube. With used cars can you negotiate prices or is that more of a new car thing?

I would consider a used "v" too in a Virginia tax scenario helps to get a little further down on depreciation curve.
Demand is a little softer for Hybrids and deprecation of Prius has reportedly kicked up a notch. Seems Corolla now depreciating slower than a Prius, whereas Prius used to be one of the slowest depreciating. Price is a little high for me but for trim level might be OK...

I purchased a 2012 v Three this weekend.. Another dealer had a 2012 v Five with 26,000 miles for sale for $22,500. They had recently marked it down by $1,000 to 22.5K. I''ve been looking for several months and the trend does seem to be for dealers to mark down a used Prius v a thousand or two before they sell. Are you using truecars or the same service directly on USAA (if you are a USAA member)? Searching either sites gives you an idea of what a fair, good, or great price is.

I am with USAA, I looked and apparently its a good deal with an additional $100 from the dealership.

And now I'm the owner of a new Prius V! The car was actually equipped with Lo-Jack which wasn't advertised, the dealer threw in a tonneau cover and the all weather floor mats so all in all I'd say I got a good deal. Bigger than the Cube, better gas milage and probably better insurance rates as well!

Newbie here with a very recently purchased certified '12 V5 w/40k mi. Already have a '07 Camry hybrid and am a long-time Toyota owner...as in first was a '71 Corona (Mark II) station wagon. I love the V bunches so far.

I spent a fair amount of time researching on this site.

FWIW, as to the original question on this thread, I got the dealer to drop it by $2k even though it looked brand new. Sadly, I was unable to get them to update Entune or Navigation but I don't know yet how to find out the version # for Entune or Navigation. Can anyone tell me how?

That said, they put on a brand new set of 17" Hankook VentusS1Noble2 tires as part of the Certification.
