Radio off every time I start the car.

I recently purchased a 2014 prius 3. When I turn my car on the sound system is either off or the volume is at zero but when I left the car it was on and volume was at say 30. Does the car lower the volume or turn the radio off when you start it? Is this a feature that can be turned off? If that made any sense...

I don't know the answer to your question, but if someone more knowledgeable reads this I have a related issue. When I turn off the car and restart it later it always defaults to the USB. I always have to change the audio source to SAT. Shouldn't it default to the status it was in when the car is turned off?

Check your Entune version - this was fixed in an update a while ago.

Thank you for the reply. I am not familiar with Entune, I thought it was just a suite of apps that used my phone for connectivity. I have never used it. Can you give me a hint how to update it or check the version?

Are you saying that I must use Entune to use my Prius audio or at least have it remember the last status before I shut off the car? I have resisted loading it on my phone, I guess I must now?

I know that the audio does come up at first right where I left it (in my case on the XM SAT channel), but it switches to the USB stick about 10-15 seconds after I start the car ... every time.

Entune has two parts - the software that runs the car's audio and navigation systems, and the smartphone app that lets the car apps talk to the internet.

Since it was released, the Entune car software has had four updates, the last two of which fixed a lot of problems:

    Must…turn off…music! | PriusChat

You can check the version at Setup > General > System Information (scroll down). The latest is 3.2.0; if you don't have this version you can ask the dealer to update it for you (no charge). Alternatively, you can do it yourself by following these instructions at the ToyotaNation forum.

If you're on the latest version of Entune and still having problems, get the dealer to look at the system.

Well I checked and I have Entune 3.2.0 installed already. So I am back to square one. I guess a visit to the dealer is in order.

SOLVED! For those that are experiencing the same problem, I finally read elsewhere that the brand of your USB stick can cause it to override whatever your last setting was. I switched to a Sandisk USB stick and now when I start the car it resumes on SAT or the radio, or wherever I left it last...no more default to the USB stick unless that was what I was listening to when I turned off the car.

It also might be the formatting of the USB, but I just got a little tiny 32GB Sandisk for $13 and that did it.
