    Aloha,
Our 2008 Prius' center display stopped working last night during our drive home. We are in the middle of a move from Oahu to now Big Island and are in a fairly remote location...
Any thoughts on what might have caused this and how to fix it? We can still run AC via steering wheel, however, it's output volume (low or high) can no longer be adjusted. The radio is non functioning now as well.

Any thoughts, or info will greatly help!! Praying this is not an expensive fix nor an indicator of worse things to come.

You may be eligible for a recall on the display. Take it to the dealer.

Unfortunately not learned enough in the behind the scenes wiring of a Prius to offer any real tangible suggestions, that could easily be Do It Yourself employed.

But I would be hopeful that it could be as simple as a short, or fuse, and I think the fact that your symptoms seems to be encompassing a large area and multiple things actually is hopeful.

But outside of possibly a fuse, and I'm not too familiar with those either, I don't think this resolves without a visit to a dealership.

Also I admit far less familiarity with Gen 2 Prius.

I might take a cursory look at the owners manual and see if it says anything about a fuse that supplies the center console. But if that isn't possible, then my fear is that you do end up at a dealership.

Isn't it strange in life how it seems timing sometimes is so bad?

Best of luck, if it helps at all, I don't think the remedy is necessarily ONLY going to be expensive or an indicator of worse things to come. It could very easily be a specific and individual problem. And Hopefully, easily and inexpensively resolved.

If it does turn out to be an expensive or complicated fix. Try to focus on the fact that you are living in Hawaii....

This sounds to me like a bad Multi Function Display. There have been several reports of problems on these units, the soldering points are the problem. Since you are in Hawaii, you might try to find a used part on Ebay and install it. I also hear Steve at autobeyours.com has instructions on his site on removing and installing the unit. He does repairs if you mail it to him, but it looks like it'll be in the $400 range.

You are referring to the combination meter, the OP is talking about AC controls, which is the MFD.
