I have decided to change the ATF in my own 2014 HB as well as in G/F's 2012 ''v'' myself, and I am not familiar with ''good'' pumps to re-install the new fluid. I am sure some of you guys have found some that work really well-- or better than some others. I did Google ''transmission fluid pumps'' and found several, but I do have enough smarts to know all are not equal. There is a small repair garage local that I can rent the lift on for 30 minutes to do this, a pump would be simpler to replace new fluid with, instead of funnel and hose, to me it seems---TIA.......

i don't recall anyone here using a pump, could be wrong though. 4 qts isn't that much to have to pour in.

Even on a hoist, you could just raise it modest amount, use funnel and hose. Main thing: it is very simple easy method.

I have pumps, but I decided to use a funnel, which was better. A 30 inch clear vinyl extension tube from the plumbing department for under a dollar at Lowe's is all that you need. 1/2 inch OD is better than the 5/8 that some has used. The smaller tube allows air to vent in the fill hole.

Well, I guess pouring it in with a 3/8'' hose and funnel would be fine--- if I had it level on jack stands and a helper. I am having knee surgery Oct.9th for a torn meniscus tendon,,, and don't really want to get into that now. It would be much easier to drive it on a lift and pump the ATF back in, as shown on Toyota's TSB [ of which I have a copy ]. Besides,,, a pump would be less costly than buying jack stands....[ I do have a floor jack ] I was just hoping someone had used the pumps, and could steer me in the proper direction. I have $460 worth of ''points'' on my Lexus C.C to go to the local Lexus dealer and get the WS ATF with, so no cost out-of-pocket for ATF. I got 4 of the crush washers in Lakewood, Co last week when I had my 10,000 oil change, during our trip.

OK,, maybe I will re-think this,, it appears that someone would need to hold the 3/8'' ID [ 1/2'' OD] hose in the fill hole while someone else poured the ATF into the funnel. The dealers around Jackson, Ms start at $169-- $250 for a change of ATF--- and swear they ''need to flush it''------BS! I really do not feel like doing this with a troublesome sore knee, but HEY!, a man gotta do, what a man gotta do--- especially 70 yo retired men that are not totally cripple.

This funnel is available everywhere. WalMart, Advance, Pep Boys, O'Reilly or Auto Zone carries them.

Cut off the tube a couple of inches from the tip of the funnel, lube it with transmission oil and insert the 1/2 OD tube.

I purchased a 1 gallon pressurized garden sprayer and cut off the mister tip. I then added the four quarts in the container and pumped the handle to pressurize the fluid. I slipped some clear tubing over the end of the rigid tube of the pump and secured it with some cable ties. It worked great.

Most auto parts stores sell a pump that goes right into the quart. I found this to work really good to fill the trans back up.

That's what I bought. This oil isn't thick and heavy; anything that can pump water could pump this stuff.

OK,, ended up getting a pump that sort of looks like a caulking gun, you draw the fluid in and push the t-handle to fill the transaxle. I got a case of WS ATF this morning and have the lift reserved for 7:30 Sat AM. Guess I will see how it goes. I will do G/F's first, then mine at the same time.

Changed the ATF WS this morning--- the little pump worked fine. It doesn't hold but a pint, so it takes two passes at the quart bottle for the quart. However, it did work fairly well, not too messy, good for another 50,000 now.

Next time you may want to consider this if it is in your budget:

1740 POWER FILL PRO 1.5 gallon

I find it very useful now that I have two cars with CVTs. It is much faster, easier and cleaner than a hose/funnel or the cheap hand pumps. I especially like the air valve that lets you pressurize it with an air compressor.

In my experience, pump = one person job, funnel = two people job (one at top, one at bottom). I am impressed by the other ideas here.

You could do funnel and hose by yourself, by just sticking to 100 cc shots, once you've put the first 3 liters (or qts) in. You'll eventually overshoot a little, and it'll drain back out. But yeah, it's easier with two people.

    I like funnel/hose because:

    1. It's dead simple, no mechanical hassles.
    2. You might be tempted to use a pump for other applications, with other fluids. Best not to.

    Mendel,
You left out your third and entirely legitimate reason:
    3. It is cheap and I either don't have the money to spend or would rather spend it on something else.

    I used this one:

Having a pump is not 100% necessary but it helps.

What is the size of the fill plug hole or what outer size of the tube is needed to fit in?
I've got the ATF and tools. Just tube size and washers are needed.
Are there 2 washers needed (fill and drain)? Anyone knows the Toyota part number?

    Thanks!
