    Hi Folks,

As our Prii approach their battery replacement birthday in numbers that are more than a curiosity, I thought it would benefit the community to have one place to post and look up New, OEM battery prices. If you shop and find an attractive price, please post a comment and update the spreadsheet (see below.) I will keep this OP updated for easy reference. Provide a link to the vendor and any pertinent information you think other shoppers may want to know. Thanks for contributions to make this thread a resource for us all. Please keep posts on topic: NEW OEM battery, not refurbished or remanufactured.

September 2014 Update: I have replaced the original list with a table (thanks BobWilson) that is searchable. The data 'lives' in this GoogleSheet. I encourage everybody to expand and update the sheet. For now the sheet will not automatically update the table below, but I'll check in fairly often and refresh the table as needed. The sheet has clickable links to the vendor website if not the item itself.

December 2014 Update: The prices listed are for the pack only. Take the following into account:
    1. Counter pick-up only. Local taxes will apply.
    2. The dealership will want your old pack in exchange, or you will be charged for a 'core.'
    3. The new pack does not come with the ECU and associated electronics. Most people will transfer those parts from the old pack to the new one.
    4. You choose an installation option. DIY for free, or pay someone.
    Feb 2015 Update:
    1. Reports have surfaced of stores that sell only to garages or Toyota certified mechanics. Call ahead; you may have to arrange a front man.

Pretty soon you will be able to purchase refurbished battery packs through PriusChat or on my web site.

These will be packs delivered for free to you or your mechanic. Your purchase will help benefit PriusChat and be backed up by a 3 year nation-wide warranty with unlimited miles during the warranty period. The units are fully assembled and ready to put in the Prius. Pricing is not quite set yet, but it will be under $2,000 for sure.

Contrast this with the new packs from Toyota that carry a only a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty. When buying a new Toyota pack from the sources you mentioned, you must also pay for shipping as well as swap over all the computer components from your old pack to the new pack.

    Sounds good.
Can shipping be noted as well? May be helpful for those who are not nearby.

Should this be made clear in your first post as it does not make any reference to OEM new, refurbished, or aftermarket.

Carson Toyota (~19 miles south of Downtown Los Angeles). $2,355.69 ($1350 Core).
Although not the cheapest, I am sure they will match or beat other local on-line Toyota Dealers (North Hollywood or San Bernardino), possibly saving you a further drive away.

Would be helpful to have warranty information from these providers - or a number assuming all of them offer the same warranty.

1 year warranty. Like all battery warranties, the length of the warranty does not give you a clear picture of how long they last. New batteries tend to go for 8+ years vs rebuilt batteries go for much shorter periods

Here's some info that may be helpful to others and maybe could be integrated into the original post?

First, none of the dealer's I have called so far on the OP will ship the battery packs.
This means you must pick up the batteries in person at the counter.

Second, to get the internet price, you will likely have to bring screenprint of the online price to get that price at the counter.
At the very least you will need to ask for the online price when you go to the counter.
If you do not ask for the online price, you will likely get charge/quoted the standard price.

    For example.
I called one of the low cost dealers and they initially quoted me the $2,588.67 list price.
They said they could not ship the pack.
But when I called back and explained I wanted the online price he said just come in, mention the online price and he could make that happen.
It's kind of an oddball since they have the price online, but you can't order it to be shipped.

I'll keep calling some of the others and see what else I can find.

Not sure if your local dealer will be willing to price match, since technically, you can't get the battery at the lower price unless you go to the other dealer in person.

Moderator, can this thread be made a sticky as it will be of permanent interest to the Prius owners as all our cars age!

Core I assume means you have to return the used HV battery, before or after you put the new battery in.

My understanding also, although I have not verified the details, and I do not know if the dealerships have the same return policy.

Yes, you must return the used battery.
That is why there is a core fee. (Generally $1,300 or more.)

I found this very important point, which I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. I was planning on just purchasing a new battery and putting it in myself until I discovered this important fact - perhaps this is unique to my area, but good to look into:

Toyota requires you to pay a $1350 core charge and they don't refund you for around a month until Toyota recieves the old battery and confirms all bolts are torqued to spec and no cells are leaking - in other words the core must be inspected by a certified Toyota tech before you get your core charge refunded.

    Too rich for my blood.

That being said you can add, North Charlotte (NC) Toyota to the list $2038 and Concord Toyota, NC also matched that price and they both will perform the service for you for $360.
