'05 AC Problems, possible Blockage or really the Compressor?

    The ac is still running strong! I took the car to get the windows tinted on Saturday with the money saved. Here are some pictures..you can see wear on the old compressor scroll..metal debris on the old drier sock and on the cap.

    Sorry to bring this thread out again,
    but I am having similar problem lately, I have replaced with a used compressor, I put 4 ounce of ND-11 oil in it, pulled vacuum,
    and fill the system with 450g R134A, but now both H/L pressure would go below 20 psi then the compressor were forced to cut out.,
    then re-engaging after it rise up to 50 psi. (the resting pressure are both 70psi, 25 Celsius after switch off )
    I am suspecting a bad expansion valve, still looking for some guides/ reference for doing it.
    Or do I need any tricks for recharging the system ?
    Since I saw the earlier post from Expo Prius mentioned the jumper thing, don't know if that is the case?

    Sorry Smoke but I too don't know where it is and am bummed I dont see a post on the topic. For us guys who can't afford a pro, it would surely help. I just replaced my Condenser and all of the 'O' rings, pulled a vacuum (renting for free the gage/hoses/pump from AutoZone) and have found that the Prius must have an extremely small port in an orifice or valve because it seems to be difficult for lots of guys to load refrigerant. Currently I have a cold system only one small can (which is odd), with engine running had 10 psi low and 120 high. This means I should add some, but when I do the low jumps to 80 psi and the high stays at 120 psi. Thus I feel like the orifice / valve is blocked. It could be due to me just adding oil that didn't flow down to the compressor but instead went towards the firewall/under the dash. Unless one of the Prius team chimes in with knowledge of a similar situation, then I'm going to have to evacuate / recover and try again hoping the vacuum moves the oil back away from the valve.

    Thoughts anyone?
