Does Toyota update the bluetooth firmware? I have an iPhone 5 and it seems to be losing functionality with every iPhone update.

For example it no longer automatically detects my music. It sees the device but I have to actually start a song before the audio system will load my music list. This sort of loses some of the hands free functionality. Once I play a song, then my Browse button brings up my music library as before.

There's also an intermittent problem with it alerting me for incoming calls. This was all working fine with iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 before IOS 7.1. I can't wait to see what IOS 8 does.

there is a Display Audio and Navi system and a Premium HDD system. Display Audio and Navi system, the firmware iirc is posted somewhere and you update it yourself.

Ah, I see. No, I don't have the NAV pack. Just the audio system. I don't think there's a way to install a firmware update myself unless it's a USB thumb drive or something. I'll check with the dealer tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.

Went to the dealer today for my inspection and they told me that the latest Bluetooth firmware they have is 2012 and the next update is 2014. I showed them the problem and the mec told me he'd keep an eye out for a solution.

I'm under the impression that Apple changed something basic in the way they handle the CAR MULTIMEDIA devices but I would expect to see other complaints and I don't. Well, IOS8 is out shortly. We'll see what that breaks or fixes.

if U don't have a Navi package so u have a radio with backup camera?
if so, I don't think there will be any fixes. try iOS8, the only changes I see is the BT browsing and your radio doesnt have the feature. i doubt it will improve your situation.

Yes I have the audio with the backup camera.
It's not a major issue. When I switch to BT it used to either load the last album playing or show up empty. In either case the browse button would be there and I could select music. What happens now is if there is no album loaded, the browse button either isn't there or if it is, doesn't select anything. I can manually load an album and then everything works for a while. I'm surprised no one else complained about this.

    Thanks for the replies.

    Android 4.4.2
After upgrading to 4.4.2, my car's bluethooth did not connect to mobile.
I unpaired and paired from mobile and tried to connect without success.
I removed my phone in car's bluethooth and now my phone does not find any bluetooth when I search to pair.
I had no problem before upgrading and it worked perfect.
Any suggestion or solution for this?

... I just happened upon this:

Bluetooth and iPhone/iPod/AUX Kits for Toyota Prius 2004-2009 | GTA Car Kits

Looks sloppy; overtly complicated. Caveat emptor, whensoever I sense the manufacturer (e.g., quote; verbatim) "...GTA Car Kits is not responsible and should not be liable [SNIP]..." over-aggressively pushing their disclaimer, I scratch my head, pondering exactly how many OEM dashboards they've fried - Samuel, '04 Ruthiemobile.
