    Hi all.

Kindly please advise know how to upload songs to the vehicle's built-in Hard Drive (shown as 'HDD' on the navigation).

Since my car is a Japanese version, there is no manual. An English copy I downloaded from these forums does not contain any reference to the HDD (only CD Player and Radio).

    Thanks for your help.

I don't believe that the older Pri had a HDD nav system. That is a relatively recent (2012) option. Even then, I doubt very much that songs could be uploaded to the nav system drive.

    Thanks for your reply.

In my car, I can toggle between a CD Player and an 'HDD' through the 'DISC' button. I presume its a hard drive.

This item (shown as 'HDD' on the screen) has many loaded MP3 songs onto it, most of which are in Japanese language. I want delete / replace some of these songs.

    Regards.

Yep. No Gen 2 (04-09) US Priuses came with any hard drive, HDD based nav system nor any means to upload MP3s to a hard drive or any other internal storage.

Ok. Thanks for your two replies.
I will try the Prius 2010+ forums. If that Prius has an HDD, maybe someone can advise on my query.

I suspect that your car's entertainment system is different from the one's that we have in the US. I gather that you purchased it used. Was it built for your market? Or was it imported from Japan as a used car. Also, it is possible that you have some sort of "aftermarket" system.

I wouldn't bother with 2010+ forums, as that HDD is associated strictly with the Nav system - and is not accessible by the audio system.

Yes, it was imported from Japan as a used car. Obviously not built for our market. It is also possible that this is some aftermarket system installed by the original Japanese owner.
I posted yesterday in the Gen-III forum but my post has been deleted (maybe by the Admin due to irrelevance).
Maybe you know of cars in the US with such feature. I can search on internet for forums on that car make.

I do know that there are some current US cars with a HDD in the audio system (my Son-In-Law has a 2012 Ford Fusion with that feature - that car only has a single CD player, but it allows the driver to transfer discs to the audio HDD, so that the audio system effectively has a multi-disc player). Our 2011 Prius does have a USB input so it can effectively have a large capacity (though the interface is primitive).

The real key to your problem is that everything is in Japanese. Perhaps you can find someone over there who understands Japanese who can work with you to find the solution.

    Thanks.
Yes. Its a good idea to find some who can understand Japanese, though a far fetched solution.

    Dear member,
pls try this when you insert a new CD, go to the sound menu, (last button on left of the navi screen panel) you see a record button on the touch screen right bottom, if the button is not highlighted that means its not a compatible audio to record in HDD, to the best of my knowledge it accepts only CD audio not the MP3

Pls try and confirm, if it works :)
